If they have a mounting peg in the bottom of the ship, you shouldn't need foam at all. You just need mounting blocks on a flat plate.

I wouldn't even consider putting the bases and cards in a foam tray. They don't need that protection. Foam protection consumes lots of space. Just keep a small separate case in which you can...
