Block games I think are good territory...
I have been thinking of some innate abilities that can be added to different ship types (sloops, frigates, ships of the line etc) to give them more variaty and historical flavour here is what I am...
While I never used it for WAS something like the random scenario generator that was developed for it could be interested for SGN, you could have objective games like:
Prize taking
Harbour raids...
The advanced rules such as the special damage like fire and leaks destroy the ships faster and speed the game up , freds paper and pencil method would be a good way to reduce downtime I think. You...
I am not into solo play but if I come up with anything I will try and contribute, I am still musing with different victory conditions and objectives I would like to see.
Having different victory conditions other then sink all enemy ships helps keep things interesting as well.
The biggest shock I have had (from preconceived notions I had read) is that frigates appear to do quite well with points, what seems to happen is that "B" shots spring alot of fire and leaks which...
I started that thread on BGG, while for events/conventions I use scenarios I find if your playing in a group who regularely plays points and "equal" fleets (in value, not composition) is the way to...
has anyone played with the coastal batteries how do you find they stack up against the ships?
It's well known the British had the best people in the age of sail but who was better out of the Spanish and french? Ship wise the French but crew wise were the Spanish better? Napoleon considered...
has anyone gotten theres yet? I ordered from the aerodrome and I don't think its shipped even yet.
having time to think is the basis of strategy games (or games in general), in this game and others its just an unavoidable fact that it takes more "focus" to coordinate an increasing number of units....
We have found the game is quicker with the advanced rules because of the special damage effects like fire that destroy ships quicker.
I generally do 2-3 at 300 points either
1st rate + heavy frigate
2x 3rd rates
3rd rate and 2 frigates
My friend/main opponent LOVES the frigates and does 4x of them he finds it too much to...
If you compare the releases to x-wing which is in the same boat (figuratively or perhaps literally lol) upon wave 5's release in late november wave 6 still hasn't arrived yet since the turnover of...
Napoleon used the fleet to support his landings/land invasions , so IMO maybe the introduction of a landing mechanic or a defensive posture to protect a landing....just something historical and fun...
For using the coastal fortress/batteries pack what were some famous historical ones ? I can't find much info on castle aboukir (near the battle of the nile) it was on the coast was it a coastal...
nobody said boney captaining a ship just like the emperor doesn't pilot a tiefighter, it would be a card representing the objectives napoleon wants(ex battle of the nile, what did Napoleon hope to...
kind of related the designer leaked this on BGG...
The way to do it would be captain cards exclusively for certain ships ex foley on goliath, it could be a release like the captain and crew deck seperate so that if you don't want it you don't have to...
One of the things I like about other systematically similar games to sails of glory like x-wing is the various character/crew/upgrades/skills etc cards that you can tweak your build/ships with. ...
I say March 14th, the dock worker strike has really slowed things down as seen with X-wing and the endless time it takes for things to get there from china on the boat.
Reading up on the Battle of the Nile Nelson was bemoaning his lack of frigates available to him for scouting purposes in the lead up to the battle. What role did scouting play in this time period...
The prices aren't going down this is an auction not a buy it now the last auction from a week or 2 went for 113.00 without shipping charges the KS ships are worth good money on Ebay in a bundle.
