Rolling List:
Union Jack

Yes, a thousand times yes.
Rob.
Yes of course!
I won't be able to participate (lack of miniatures) but I would really miss the fresh ideas and new scenarios coming with a solo campaign (and I would especially miss the fun of reading through your AARs!).
You can always downsize an action to fit what ships you have Richard.
Rob.
Who is number 4? We now know.......
Come in number 4 your time is up.
Rob.
I looked Neil but could only find number 6.

Rob.
But Who is number 1?
If members also add their yeah's here then I can add them to the rolling list in post 1.
A great series which I have all the episodes for and of course Dangerman too.
I believe I am number 4?
A bit of trivia for those who remember; Patrick McGoohan played Dr. Syn, aka the Scarecrow, in a Disney TV mini series of the sixties. He was also the voice of Billy Bones in Treasure Planet.

Reporting in, I preferrred Dangerman myself :)
Good to have you watching my weather side Chris.
Rob.
Welcome aboard Chris. I also liked Man in a Suitcase. Definitely a 60's child.
We would love to have you I'm sure Reg.
Just check in with Neil as he is the organizer.
Oh and you have to supply your own Doom Bar.
Rob.
and then there were 6, welcome aboard Reg.
I may not participate, but I do enjoy reading the AARs, so I cast my vote for "Yes" to a campaign this coming year.
I will do my duty as a naval officer if I get a ship.
OK; so far the names in the frame are:
Union Jack
Bligh
Torrence (possibility)
Nightmoss
Capn Duff
Dr.Maturin

Next week I will publish the campaign bits that we all need to know.
That said here are some of the topics Eric and I covered:
1. Split Campaign.
a. Every odd month the For King and Country part of the campaign will be played. Enabling multiple ship actions with some of the larger model ships.
b. Every even month Letters of Marquee, or One mans Pirate is another mans Privateer. Enabling single ship actions with some of the smaller model ships.
2. This will allow players to play in both, ie 12 games over the year or a relaxed 6 or a mix. Whatever suits their tastes and time.
3. Scenario's should be written with a general brief allowing players to play with as many ships as they feel able or have models for.
4. The game will include:
a. Career advancement for your individual captains through renown or reputation.
b. Ship Quality.
c. Ship repairs and crew replacement. (Very simply done).
d. Prize money.
e. Gaining larger ships through advancement and capture.
All I need now is an indication of whether players want to play with 1 ship and 1 captain, or a small pool of ships and captains. Please indicate your choice.
Neil
6. This allows for Pirates, merchants, and those who favour the more nation driven type of games.
I am gratified to see those members wish to continue Neil.
Once again thank you for your efforts on our behalf.
Rob.
Hi Neil
A small squadron for me, say a couple of Frigates and a 74. British of course!
Reg
A few ships would be preferred by me.
I am with Jonas on this.
The numbers we had this year would allow a choice of how many ships to use in encounters.
Rob.
Several ships and captains for me please. If injury or death occurs, having backup captains and ships to fill in seems the best option.
How would a small squadron of 4 ships do. Each player can tell me their preference when I set up the broadsheet.
Neil
I would prefer six Neil, say 4 liners and two frigates. What about gunboats, sloops etc for special actions? Would they be ancillaries just seconded in for the one off?
Rob.
As the game is in two parts I will put forward 6 ships and 6 captains. Players can then indicate the type, names etc when they send me their set up.
To that end can everyone who is taking part in the campaign send me a list of 6 ships, including Type (incl guns ie 32, 40, 74 etc) & Name, also 6 Captains names.
Bombards can be drafted in for one off's. Sloops should be included in the 6 ships if they are to be sailed by any of your named captains.
HMS Superb 74, Captain William Price
HMS Defence 74 , Captain Edward Foster
HMS Donegal 74, Captain John Russel
HMS Indefatigable 44, Captain Frederick Wentworth
HMS Acasta 40, Commander James Benwick
HMS Surprise 28, Commander Peter Harrington
This is a suggestion me for a fleet of six ships.
Will do Neil.
Not so much bight as jonas, for me in the South India seas. More like a 100 Flagship based at Gib or Calcutta, with a 74 three Frigates and a Sloop. I will get a definitive list out later today.
Rob.
Then here they are.
W o G 2016 Campaign List
Ship Type Captain
HMS Terpsichore 32 Gun Frigate Capt. Everitt De’Ath
HMS Sybille 34 Gun Frigate Cmdr. Danby Jewell
HMS Defence 74 Gun Ship of the Line Capt. Quentin Mallory
HMS Goliath 74 Gun Ship of the Line Capt. Jacob Strawn
HMS Royal Sovereign 100 Gun Ship of the Line Capt. Caleb Hammond
HMS Queen Charlotte 104 Gun Ship of the Line Capt. Bartholomew Smithly
I'll have to think about this as I'm not going to fit easily into either French or British squadrons. :hmmm: :dazed: :erk:
I was some kind of sunk in the middle of the 2015 campaign (real life was too busy).
But I would like to take part with the shorter 2016 campaign. It's not possible for me to play 1 game per month plus AAR.
:salute:
...are we talking about a solo campaign here?
Is it possible to use both historical ships a single miniature can portrait (both sides of the card) in my squadron?
Of course those two ships weren't able to take place in the same action but to get a French fleet of 6 from my ship pool I would have to use two miniatures twice. And what ship type should I have more than once in my fleet if I use some twice? Unrated, Frigate, 74-gunner or 1st-Rate?
I'm slightly overwhelmed here :help:
I think there might be a need for some form of guidelines as to what rate the ships should be. I could put up a fleet of 5 french 120 gun ships with an 80 gun as the "light" ship but that would be hopeless in a manoeuvre/speed scenario but would on the other hand wipe the floor with most other six ships in a slug out.
Should we try to make a balanced fleet, a fleet covering all rates, or should we make a historically probable fleet?
