Bit basic, but good for beginners. Hope he will expand to cover the mechanics of aiming, charges and firing one. I have only seen land based Mortar fire which is obviously a totally different animal.

I think land based mortars used to be pretty identical to the naval ones before explosive shells became more standard for regular artillery.

The video isn't as useful as his other ones on naval gunnery, tactics, and frigate crews in the Age of Sail, but it gives a decent basic idea of what they are.
