Thought I'd run you through with my Forts and landscape as I go along with each one.
Here is a shot of my fortifications soaped, washed and ready to start.

What brand is the fortification of the left?
It's just a collection of bits and bobs I have accrued over time Julián. I'm just sticking them together to make a low lying Island fortification.
The base is actually a Desert Oasis.
Rob.
All components white undercoated and ready to start painting in base colours.

It will be interesting to see how this project develops, Rob.
Yes Dave.
That's what I'm worried about.
Rob.
Base coat on Island finished.
Fortification started.

Fortification is El Morro, Havana, right?
That's the one DB although it is going to end up as a multitude of different fortifications around the Globe as circumstances dictate. I'm just working out the best way to introduce different species of tree for different settings on these Islands.
Plug in seems the way to go.
Rob.
Yep, drill tiny sockets and build your trees around cut-down sewing pins or similar-diameter wires is what I'd suggest.
Cheers DB.
I wondered about setting very small diameter brass tube into the foam hillsides just to stop wear and tear. Your idea would then work just fine. It would also solve the problem of different nations colours flying over the fort.
Rob.
Or thin rubber--like when you strip an insulated wire, embed a chunk of the sheathing. Easier to find than hair-size brass tube. AND it reuses something you were gonna throw away anyway. :)
Even better DB.
Thanks for that one too.
Rob.
It looks great
Here we have all the basic painting complete.
I am just starting the highlighting on the fort, and have placed the guns in place on the island.
I may so some ink washes on certain parts before the highlights, but the lighting has gone for this evening and i prefer daylight for detail work.

Great!
This is fantastic Rob :hatsoff:
Very nice indeed!
Nice fortifications, Rob.
The scratch build looks amazing.
Rep gun fired! :cannonboom:
Thanks Shipmates, I only stand on the shoulders of Julián as you all know, but there is more to follow as I build up the seacoast based upon his ideas.
Just waiting for Hammerhead on Saturday when I can hopefully pick up a few trees bushes and suchlike ephemera.
Rob.
Beautiful piece of craftsmanship:clap::beer:
Nice one Rob. Looking like the bee's knee's

Super job Rob. Love the colors. The little fort on the island and the guns look like Brigade Models. Am I right? Pico Armor carries them for the US.
Regards,
Vol
Beautiful work, Rob. :hatsoff:
They would grace any table.
Very impressive, would love to be able to do half as well.
Thanks again chaps, and Eric for his Rep points. Normal service will continue as soon as my eyes improve. however I did manage to get the headland started so here is a view of how it marries up with the fort. a soon as I finish the headland I will move onto the adjoining harbour.

The only problem I see is that this can never end, then there's the continent, the complete ocean system, the other continents, the islands one by one, then the poles, then the moon, the planets, sun . . . my boss ran into that problem . . . Cheers! Drat the powder in my rep gun is damp again!
Rob,
That is looking good. If you add the harbour it is going to cost! I know, I've got the t-shirt.

I'd love to see a picture of that with a ship in for scale Rob!
The original dimensions of Morro fort were divided by 3 to make it playable.
I add some pictures about Langton ships (scale 1/1200) to see the relation measures with the fort.

The headland addition is quite nice! So when will you finish up the complete harbor?
Very nice addition, Rob.
I hope we'll be able to see it in-person soon.
I hope you wll see more than this Eric.
Here is the completed headland, now drybrushed, with its lookout tower, Villa, Farm and Windmill added.
Plus a preview of the roughed out port, which I started today whilst I could not see anything very detailed.
