A couple of ships named after Shakespearean characters.Attachment 19770Attachment 19771
Well this one certainly is not Dave.

Rob.
But here is one.

David, I really like those naval ship labels.
I need to see if we can get those in the States.
Here are some more from the same brewery. Attachment 19783Attachment 19784Attachment 19785
You may have trouble obtaining these in the U.S.A., Eric, because I believe it is quite a small brewery.
5.2 is getting nearer the mark Dave, and you are certainly finding some very good one just lately.
Rob.
You do realize that I have no idea what any of these taste like.
Here are a few more: Attachment 19816Attachment 19817Attachment 19818Attachment 19819Attachment 19820

Grand job, and after nearly two years wait my 1250 model of the HMS Nelson arrived today from Navwar. I now find out that they are marketed from Chesterfield. Mine came from the States. Funny old world, but at least I can now go head on at the Italian Fleet. |So these modern ships are spot on for my current mind set Dave. I'll have to see what I can find later.
Rob.
David, for someone who does not enjoy beer, I am delirious to visit that brewery. Unfortunately, I doubt carrying bottles overseas would be practical.
My offering to the men in the Wardroom for tonight is.

Today some Whirlpools. Attachment 19905 Attachment 19906 Attachment 19907
The last one is particularly powerful.
Now that is talking Dave.
I may have lead a sheltered life where ale is concerned, but I have only once in my life seen a beer stronger than that. That was at a pub in Howarth where they had a 10% Galeforce I imagine. Mrs Bligh would not let me sample it as I was navigating back across the moors.
Bligh.
Something a little different for today's tipple me hearties.

I have no doubt that you are right Jonas.
I know from my study of 18th Century brewing that the "strong" ale which came from the first Maltings was never more than about 25% and subsequent Maltings resulted in lesser strengths until you arrived a small ales drunk by most poor people. Allowing for improvements in modern techniques I expect you could push the limit for hop produced beer up a bit but not much. The strongest that I can find in modern ales is this one at 13%

Not as strong is Belgian Barque ale. Attachment 19922
Probably strong enough for me.
I'm still trying to find some more of that Batemans Victory Ale at 5.9% That's good enough for an evening spent over a game or two.

Rob.
As no one else has come forward with an ale today, I will end with.

Good evening to you Morten and welcome to the Anchorage shipmate.
That is a fine brew you have there, and one to sample in the Wardroom later.

How about some Whale Ale? Attachment 20002Attachment 20003Attachment 20004Attachment 20005Attachment 20006Attachment 20007
Sounds a bit too much like Whale oil to me Dave.
Nice find though.

My ale for today is:-

Skibsøl (ship's beer), fermented, alcohol weak (2,4 vol.), dark Danish beer style. It has a relatively strong hop flavor and become as the earliest Danish beers brewed with smoked malt.
Attachment 20046
Now that makes a nice change Morten. Keep them coming.
Rob.
Now for a less well known sea creature. Attachment 20047
Well here is a more familiar one.
