Rob it's beautiful:hatsoff: i am sure inspired. so much in fact that i will start making some terrain myselfe :moneygone:
Thanks Morten
Rob,
Looking good. I too use free-standing forts, batteries etc. This made the piece more useable in games. I know it can look better if it is put into the piece but it is a working piece not just for show.

Rory
Thanks Chaps.
I have fixed the rest of my fortifications, but want that headlands to be more versatile.
Rob.
Still a few bits to add, but good enough to use for my next AAR now.

...there is a ship at anchor in the background. You can hardly imagine it. I am running on the quay, not to be late for her departure. Must weigh anchor and hold the line...WAIT FOR ME Captain:beer:
Oh...I am too old to adulthood:wink:
Morten:hatsoff:
You are well in time Morten.
You can't see from that angle, but it has not yet even got its yards crossed.
Rob.
I am very much impressed!
It's beautiful! I can't send rep your way yet, I'm afraid, but you'd deserve it if I could.
I like it a lot. Not a nice one to sail in and out off! High island (wind shadow) and sand-bars. Hope your ships have good charts and masters! Good luck!

Stunningly awesome Rob. Rep canon out of powder. As sson as I reload a broadside coming your way.
Really nice Rob, makes my effort look feeble, back to the drawing board for me.
Will we see this masterpiece at Partizan in May ?
The sand bars are not normally there, but were included for the Solo March Scenario. The whole set up cab be transformed as far as the defenses, and size of the port are concerned. I can up the defenses by including the flat Island to replace the volcanic plug shown. That flat Island has two more dedicated batteries commanding the channels. i can also add another medium sized fort to the headland at the rear of the town.
Rob.
Amazing work, Rob.
I'm curious for the next solo mission.
Simply brilliant Rob :hatsoff:
Creates a magnificent atmosphere, I can't wait to see it in action!
You can catch it in action here Richard.

Rob.
Your fort looks great, Rob!
However, siting it below the headland would make it vulnerable to enemy artillery dug in on the headland; not that it will make any difference in the game, of course. :)
They never expect an attack from inland in any of the books Dave.
Did you spot the Martello tower on the headland covering the rear?
Rob.
In the KS Empire of the Sea game rule book there is a great picture of the bombardment of Havanna from the sea and yoru big fort on the receiving end Rob.
Have you got a copy Neil?
Rob.
You can download the r u le book as a off from the site.
Apologies Rob, predeictive text.
Coastline coming on/ Islands done and used in last 2 games to be posted yet.
Port cut out, awaiting land and paint.
I would never have noticed if you had not mentioned it Neil.
Can't wait to see your games with the coastline in.
Between the lot of us we must have a fairly comprehensive set of supporting materials by now.
Rob.
Thanks Darell. Glad you liked it.
I am now planning out how to store all the terrain modules.
Rob.
I have a chest of draws that I salvaged from the curb that stores all of my hobby stuff in the garage. Perfect.
Just completed the storage box for the terrain modules and accessories.
Attachment 21844
Here is the box.
Attachment 21847
Bottom layer holds an FIC pick and pluck tray with the small components on one side,
and the large island plus fort on the other.
Note the spacers stuck on to stop items colliding in transport.
Attachment 21846
The Harbour slots in above the tray.
Attachment 21845
Third layer is another tray with the headland and coastal sections.
The lid just presses down enough to keep everything in place.
I will add bungee straps around if for long journeys.
Rob.
Ikea packing style, it fits all ;)

Good packaging!
Rob,
Very nice. Did you make the shore-line/harbour to fit in the box. Or where you just lucky to get a box that it all fitted in? I got one and thought it would work, but one little bit of the steel-plate made it not fit. Jane my partner made a bag for my harbour and I cut a small hole in the side of the box. It pokes out about 1 inch and I must slide it into the little hole before laying it flat. As it is only a small bit of steel it still works. If only I had measured it first! I did not need that bit on the harbour plate. :embarass: :erk:
Yours looks so good Rob. :medal:

I will put it this way Rory.
I have a spare box which is about 50mm too small going spare!
I actually made the shore line 45mm longer than I should have for the original box I bought. I was thinking more about the FIC trays size than the coastline.
Rob.
I was lucky to have some of Keith's off cuts from his Hanger trays Kamil, which are more substantial for the support pillars. So I just stripped off the plastic protector film and stuck them down.
It worked just fine.
As you can see I even have space over the Fort for another layer of Islands.
Rob.
Rob,
How you did it is not the point. It works and looks good. To go to a game and open that box will be like kids at Christmas for the other players.
Be safe
Rory
Well thank you Rory.
That is very kind of you.
Rob.
Just read this whole string for the first time.WOW! Rob you are an impressive modeler. If I could I would give you a broadside of reputation shot.
That is very kind of you Vol, but remember a lot of this is knowledge gleaned from other gamers over 40 years. Not least by some very talented shipmates here on the anchorage.
Rob.
Ah yes, but it is the masterful application of that knowledge that is so impressive!
I will quit whilst I am losing Vol, and just say thank you for all the very kind remarks then.:surrender:
