This is why in sales-tax-happy WA I do as much of my purchasing as possible by mail-order through companies not slurping the "Internet Sales Tax" Kool-Aid. Brick and mortar, I have to pay an extra ten percent on top of MSRP... oh well, at least we don't have a state income tax, YET. Give that carpetbagging POS Komrade Chairman Inslee time, though...
Had a momentary false alarm. Got home and saw a big box and a book-size package. I had recently ordered some books online so the smaller package was expected. Since no one else in the house has purchased anything the big box with 2-day shipping made my heart leap. Then I saw our address and my neighbors name and realized we were Santa's secret post-office. :embarass:
I hope this board isn't going to devolve into a political peanut gallery. Plenty of other places to vent in that regard folks...
Fred
Yes no politics here..so....here's peanut and the vent

I had a false alarm too. I came home to a big box sitting on the living room floor. Turns out it's a birthday present for me that arrived in the mail. Now it's driving me crazy wondering what she could have got me that would be in that big of a box.
Fort Wayne to Columbus is usually 1 day shipping! (crosses fingers) :drinks:
Is there a prize for first pictures?
Cute...

Yes. It's the chance to start playing immediately after said photo shoot ends. Perhaps Bruce will design a medal with a dog wearing a 4-leaf clover, the "lucky dog" award. If he designs it right, the rest of us could confuse the clover with diseased lesions and refer to it at the, "Scurvy Dawg" award. :sly:
Edit - David beat me by seconds to the real answer. Dang Net Ninja!
Too bad I can't get a rel who lives in Fort Wayne to do the pickup...
On the upside, if someday I can somehow bamboozle Ares into hiring me as a fulltime research/office assistant based out of their Fort Wayne warehouse I at least have a pre-established base of operations... even though it does mean having to somehow get 11 miles PAST the end of the bus line. LOL
I can't remember where it was posted here, but its been raised in other wargaming KS projects. Here's a link to the recent Cthulthu one:

"Good news for our European backers!
After consulting with several logistics companies, we are happy to announce that we will be able to help you save money on import taxes. Because pledges on Kickstarter are explicitly for the "funding of a project in a pre-retail environment," we can ship our products to you with a declared commercial value equal to the core manufacturing cost, rather than your full pledge amount. This should save a lot on any VAT taxes which may apply.
So it's the 19th,
Anyone see any sails on the horizon?
Are there any new mooring lines at the dock?
I assume the container holding the Ares stuff has been decked out with a Nelson checker, gilded stern, and figurehead of Lord St. Vincent for easy identification?
From memory Roberto said something like "ok we will sort it out" so it may be best to check wuth him. If he isn't or hasn't I hope he does :)
The post I was referring to was this one by David in April (had to dig it up):

I can't find (and remember) any comment or post from Ares directly. But Davids last post suggests he has been talking to Ares about this.
I haven't found where Roberto or Ares mentioned anything about a solution to the VAT/import issues and talking with Roberto, he can't recall it either.
Just drop a line to the Cthulhu guys if you are worried about it. They've done the homework.
Not quite. One is importing into the EU from the UK, the other the US. I'm not so sure there is a difference there, but there every will could be. Also, the shipping, custom and tax laws are quite different for UK based companies then companies based out of Italy... that I'm pretty positive on.
All I'm saying is just because one company says they can do something with their KS, does not mean another company can do the same.
Maybe we should have had a "Who will get their package last" competition as well...
No, the Cthulhu game is shipping from the US to the EU, so the circumstances are the same and hence the same rules ought to apply.
All come under EU law, which covers import taxes and is therefore consistent (details such as VAT rates and handling charges may differ from country to country, but the essential tax law itself covers the act of shipping materiel in to the European Union and applies throughout).Quote:
