Hi guys,
Maybe you remember I made a website you can use for solo playing SoG. I have turned this software into a (free) Android app:

Any chance of an iPad version??
Trying to see first how this goes. If people like it (and my other solo software) as an app rather than a website (this stuff used to be on a website) I'll put more work in it and see if I can upload to the Appstore.
Until then, use this link to use it on your iPad in a web browser:
http://www.digital-game-aides.com/sog.html
On second thought, I read about it and it requires a 99$ USD publishers account. Seeing that this is a hobby without any revenue I don't really see that happening.
If there is a way to make a build for iOs without publishing it on the appstore and just distribute it using a download link from dropbox it seems more realistic.
Apple keep apps for iOS in the strangling grip of their iron fist. I highly doubt there is an easy way around it.
There is one easy way. If apple tablets allow for file explorers I can hand out the .html .js .css files and corresponding directories and you can run the website on a local environment. Simply open the file and when asked which app you want to use for that pick any browser.
You can put it in drop box.
You mean the .html or an iOs install file? What are those anyways? .dmg's or something?
Only way to install an app in iOS is through the appstore or to jailbrake the device.
I meant the html-file.
I really should get going in fixing my iOS app. It's not a solo play app but keeps track of your ships as the ship's log.
Even a ships log app would be extremely handy in large games. But yes, the html approach should work
Cool, for now the website should work fine. Somewhere along the lines I'll put everything together and zip it (+instructions in case people don't know how to use it) so people can get the package and put it on their phone.
And @TexaS, wasn't your app already done?
Here is the website btw: Digital Game Aides
Is there any chance that you could explain and maybe give a demonstration of what some of the things on your app mean?
What is the difference between ship relative heading and zone?
I have had some occasions when it has ordered the wrong broadside to fire, what did i do wrong?
Zones are like pieces of pie in a circle around the solo ship with zones (slices) 1 until 12 (1 is slightly right and 12 is left).
Relative heading is the difference of heading the target ship has.
In the following examples you see 1 arrow as the solo ship and 1 as the target ship.
Example 1:
---> -targetship in zone 1 with relative heading 90 degrees right
^ -soloship

Example 2:
<--- -targetship in zone 1 with relative heading 90 degrees left
^ -soloship

Example 3:
^ -targetship in zone 1 with relative heading 0

^ -soloship

ok i think i get it. you should upload a few example pics in the instructions section.
Good idea! I'll do that on the next build.
Daan,
Just discovered this and looking forward to using the webpage based version - Thank you!
Actually I only solo war-game play at this time and have had Sails of Glory waiting on the shelf behind several other games for quite a while now.
This solo tool has encouraged me to get SOG to the table soon, its next up.
Thanks again!

Daan,
Just played my first game with the solo web app.
Thank you very much!
It played great and is very intuitive to use. My first time playing SOG and it beat me in a
Frigate 1 on 1 skirmish using the advanced rules.
Very grateful for your efforts.
