You can count me in as usual Chris.
Rob.
put. e doe as a "probable" :)
Hope you can make it Dave.
Rob.
Received the cofirmation mail for the show, the SGN table is down as GB07
Looking for vollunteers to assist for this show, currently myself and Ensign Patch, I am also assuming Bligh
If you there pop along and say hello
Yes Chris.
I also hope that Cpt. Kiwi, and Gary will be with us all being well.
Will Simon and yourself require a berth for the night as usual?
rob.
I should hopefully be there! Looking at previous posts, is this still at the Newark Showground (Next to the Air Museum)?
Oh yes!
Rob.
That will be fine Chris.
Se you then.
Did you have any luck finding any of those Sloop boxes?
Rob.
An entertaining day for me and Simon at least yesterday.
Unfortunately my poor French frigates were no match for Simons Pirates loosing every game.
We unfortunately did not get many punters join us unlike the Wings chaps, but those that did really enjoyed it and I do believe we are the reason both starter sets available at the show were sold.
So again those who stop and play are impressed enough to indulge but its getting people to play.
One of the starter sets was on sale from someone selling up as he had no one to play and so it was no use to him, bargain for the chap buying as it went for £40!
But for me its still a great game and I enjoyed the day, looking forward to the next show in a couple of weeks at Hammerhead
Hammerhead has been postponed due to weather, new date is 28 April
And here we are at the new date.
A few shots of the games played today.
Game one:- Valdivia.
Attachment 37585
Chris and Dave chat before we open.
Attachment 37586
Cochrane's Chilean Squadron approach the forts.
Attachment 37587
They spot the Anchored Spanish ships as the forts open fire upon the Squadron.
Attachment 37589
Having forced the narrows under fire the Squadron divides to attack the Spanish ships.
Attachment 37588
The Spanish attempt to flee.
Attachment 37590
Rounding the Island two of Corchrane's ships take more fire from the Island battery.
Attachment 37591
The remaining ships face off but are damaged by Galverino..
Attachment 37592
One of the Chilean ships is disabled by the island battery.
The first game concludes in a draw.
Rob.
Second round Valdivia.
Attachment 37600
New set of punters take to the water.
Attachment 37601
Chris takes over the reins from me.
Attachment 37602
Captain Kiwi lends a hand as the ships close for action.
Attachment 37603
The Batteries emplaced on the coast having done very little service this time round.
Attachment 37604
The ships close for action, and the Spanish get a nasty shock when the tiny Galverino opens fire with its full battery of carronades.
Attachment 37605
One Spaniard in a world of pain.
Attachment 37606
Unfortunately the O'Higgins has not escaped totally unscathed either but at least it was not a double fire.
Attachment 37607
Even with this setback and grounding of another Chilean ship which we see being towed off the sandbar, the Spanish were finally defeated with no ships having escaped to sea.
Rob.
Afternoon. Simon's Pirates game.
Attachment 37614
Even more punters to the fray.
Attachment 37615
Ensign Patch (Simon) and McDorf (Gary) take command of a scurvy band.
Attachment 37616
The Royal Navy close in.
Attachment 37617
The action breaks up into several single ship contests which the Pirates finally win whilst I was off photographing the Wings tables.
Rob.
Final Game. Chris French vs British.
Attachment 37618
One British and one french ship having already been lost,
I got back just in time to catch the climax of this game.
Attachment 37619
All the remaining ships closed one each other.
Attachment 37620
Several ships opened fire as the first two collided and then entangled.
Attachment 37621
Here we see the third ship joining the entanglement.
As they could not seem to unentangle the British continually raked by the French with one point left, and then they all shot each other from the Tops for about 20 minutes until the French ran out of men.
The Two British ships then unentangled, at which the second Frenchman left who had taken no part in the action.
made his getaway.
Thus endeth Hammerhead 2018.
Rob.
Great photos. Looking forward to the next round!
Very nice battles!
We enjoyed them Jonas.
It was good to get so many interested participants.
Rob.
Great pics Rob, this years Hammerhead was very enjoyable, the first hour was quiet but then we had people playing until late in the afternoon, altogether I estimate around 20 punters tried out the game and I spoke to a further half dozen about ships, models and gameplay, an all around good day
Great set of battles. I especially love the pirate ships (red and black sails are very impressive). It even looks like you had repeat players coming back to play? That's always a good sign. Thanks again for the photos and AAR's.
Sadly, I cannot see any of your photographs, Rob. I am using Google Chrome. I cannot see them using Firefox either. Also my medals have disappeared.
I can vouch for your medals still being there dear chap.
I think that there is obviously an incompatibility problem.
May be your firewall blocking pictures.
Rob.
Message for Captain Duff.
Did you happen to find an extra Wind indicator in your box Chris, as when I unpacked mine has gone AWOL.
I have put it down in the ships log as R.
Rob.
Hi Rob,
Ill check for you and let you know.
Dave, I can also see your medals
Thanks Chris.
Also did the enlarged card set get to you as the E-mail seemed reluctant to send it and then it finally seemed to go.
That usually means it is too big to transmit.
Rob.
Hi Rob, got the enlarged cards you sent, all look ok.
Also checked the markers and looks like
I have an extra one which ?ill bring up for Partizan
Cheers Chris.
I think I just left it out for that last game and then forgot as I had already packed up all my Valdivia stuff.
Rob.
Great set of games. Makes a welcome change for Sails to get a good showing.
It was the pop-up blocker, which was preventing me from seeing your great photographs, Rob. My medals are also visible now.
Damned nuisance these pop up blockers, and damned nuisance if you disable them too.
Glad you managed to sort it as i could not find out what it was at this end.
Rob.
I thought that I had fixed it because I can see your photographs, if I use the Microsoft Edge browser, but they are still not visible under Chrome or Firefox.
It is odd that you can't see them under Firefox because I have Firefox myself.
It may be a setting in your browser that is the problem, or some of your permissions which are causing the problem.
Rob.
I see them in Chrome.
Just got this message in this afternoon so we must be doing something right shipmates.
Hi Robert
Thank you taking the time to talk to me at the Hammerhead show. I'm the tall guy asking lots of questions about the terrain you made :)
You mentioned that the building were from a bunch of suppliers and to drop you a line for more details.
Any help greatly appreciated as I'm looking for inspiration to get myself some terrain built to go with my Napoleonic Fleets (lots of ships that have never seen action)
All the Best

Rob.
Sounds good Rob and your scenery really made an impact on the games as shown by the interest.
For that you deserve the plaudits.
As for scenery pass on about Combatzone scenery, thry do some forts and mni harbours/ harbours
Thanks for that Chris I have passed it on along with Langton, Brigade and Model J.
Rob.
It is strange that I can see your photographs from Hammerhead on the Aerodrome website, Rob, without any problems but using the same web browser I cannot see them here.
I would think that is something to do with the settings on the Anchorage then Dave.
Only the people in charge of the Server possibly know the answer to that one. I know that even my Admin settings on here are a bit different because I don't get informed about new members posts needing ratification, nor items waiting to go into the files.
Rob.
It must have something to do with the cookies. I couldn't see them. I signed out, got a message that the cookies were cleared, and could see the thumbnails as a guest. When I clicked on one, it informed me that I wasn't signed in. I signed in, and all of the pictures were there!
