With Manzanera Island in the spray shop, I decided to crack on with Fort Niebla.
Here I was lucky in two respects. There was an 18th century plan and I had enough parts left from the San Pedro build.

Scaling up the plan I fitted the parts which needed little fettling over the plan.

Next I cut a plasti-card base to the shape of the fort plan and assembled the parts

The next job will be fitting and gluing the walls in place.
    Rob.

The work continues with gluing up the fort.

    The last piece goes in.

    Rob.

Today I ubnder coated the fort.

Then gave it a base coat.

Whilst it was left to dry I marked out and rough cut the headland ready for terra forming tomorrow. ...

The first stage of this project was some more research.
I had used a blinking light for my first three Decker on fire and was unsatisfied with the rate of flashing being too fast.

I also needed something smaller for a 74 and a Frigate.

Hence I turned to some flashing Led earrings. here you can see the difference in scale even with the lug cut off the large Led.

I next de mast a 74 and grind off the ...

How to 3D the Ares coastline modules.

Having taken part in several Solo games where scenarios included the very nice cut out card coastline by Ares, I have finally decided that rather than continue to approximate the coast with my 3D coastal units I would make some coast to the authentic shape of Ares originals. for this project I have borrowed Captain Kiwi's Coastal cards and used them as a template to shape out my own 3d version.

Here is the start of the process. Cut out the coastline shapes from insulation foam.
You may notice that I am doing two of some parts which may be used as mirror images just as Ares ones can be turned over and ...

When I opened my ships yesterday only one had the dreaded Formast rot.
    Here it is.

Here also is my five minute repair method using paper clip and Super Glue.

Take a needle file and file the mast flat and square.

Using a fine No.78 drill or similar and Pin vice make a pilot hole in the ...

    British Bomb Ketch.

The “bomb” is a floating weapons platform, usually adapted from a small, two-masted ketch. The whole ship is constructed around a single large-calibre mortar.
Strongly-built bomb ketches must withstand the recoil of repeated mortar discharges. Often chains replace the rigging ropes nearest the mortar to prevent muzzle blast damage. They are the only naval vessels to carry and ...

    Adding the Effects of Current

I came up with this the other day, as I like my Current/Set rules, but I thought the cards could be improved.
