  • Construction of Fort Niebla.

With Manzanera Island in the spray shop, I decided to crack on with Fort Niebla.
Here I was lucky in two respects. There was an 18th century plan and I had enough parts left from the San Pedro build.

Scaling up the plan I fitted the parts which needed little fettling over the plan.

Next I cut a plasti-card base to the shape of the fort plan and assembled the parts

The next job will be fitting and gluing the walls in place.
    Rob.

The work continues with gluing up the fort.

    The last piece goes in.

    Rob.

Today I ubnder coated the fort.

Then gave it a base coat.

Whilst it was left to dry I marked out and rough cut the headland ready for terra forming tomorrow.

    Rob.

This morning I began a bit of terra forming with my router.

    Rob.

More progress on fort and coast.

By lunchtime today I was at the stage of gluing base to the terrain. Should be ready for an all over PVA seal tonight.
Meantime I will position the forts guns and start to paint the village.

    Rob.

Overnight I applied a stiff layer of PVA to the whole model excepting the beach.

Once dry I undercoated in my usual mid brown.

    Rob.

Today I got grassed up, and started to sand the beach area.

    Rob.

Here is today's work with the woodland added.
Now it's time to get on with the village.

    Rob.

Well here's the end of the jolly old process. Town painted and glued down.
Just a windmill and church on their way from the supplier to add.
Now its off to the shop for a first coat of varnish overnight.

    Rob.

I set up the Approaches to Valdivia this afternoon so that you could see the final layout with the three principal forts in position. Remember also that there are the forts Amargos, San Carlos and Ingles as well as a couple of lesser batteries further downstream.

Right but I meant the game itself was not released until 2013. The final game components were shown at Essen Spiel October 2013 and the Kickstarter backers

I have a model of the Trekronner fort but in 1/2400 scale. Hallmark made all the ships for the 1801 battle in that scale, which I have all painted and

Good observation. It was a Russian Foxtrot class attack sub. When I was there in 2021 the public was not allowed on the sub, so extensive was the rust
