Submarine and Other Non-Conventional Warfare in the Age-of-Sail

In a recent discussion (http://sailsofglory.org/showthread.php?890-some-sad-pictures) the topic of submarines surfaced. I thought it might be enjoyable and informative to dive into the topic a little deeper, and include other forms of Age-of-Sail naval warfare that were not the typical cannon-based engagements, e.g. the use of torpedoes. This thread could serve as a place from which to develop scenarios for SoG.
