So my "Day Job" is writing Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining applications.
Not that this indicates who is currently active on the site, but from the member page
and just counting those individuals with at least one post.

My Friend, you should live on the Southside. Chicago has always been a rough city, but there are areas that are veritable war zones. When my wife and I first married, we lived in a neighborhood that had additional armed security forces driving around because the CPD couldn't keep up with violent crime. That was almost 20 years ago. There are many places that have gotten worse. Thankfully, it is illegal to carry a handgun in the city limits. :question:

I'm down with the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard movement. Thank God I'm not in Seattle, can't stand big cities, but I am in the area. It would be cool to join up with some other SoG players in the region.

I'll throw off the Data Mining. I'm Canadian, but currently living/working in Brussels, Belgium.
After having lived in the UK for 4 years.
And France for year. Then Canada for two years, then the UK a year before that. And so on.

My father is Hungarian (his family fled in 1944 before the Soviet Army arrived), and I wear that heritage proudly. I'm just heartbroken about the political events there in the last few years.

I dated a girl a long time ago who's father was from Pontardawe. That was my first experience of Welsh, couldn't understand a word he said, plus he had a stutter and he spoke real low. I can't beleive I even remember the name. I think that is near a big forrest preserve. Is that anywhere near you Rab?

Anyone who has ever spent time in the Appalachians will know the truth of this - same with sections of Louisiana. I had the pleasure of traveling to many homes of friends during college and military years. It amazed me how different, culturally, places in the U.S. could be.

I think we may have swapped locations! I now live in west Philadelphia (near the Schuylkill), and I grew up on the Miles River (feeding the Chesapeake). Small world!

How can you tell when a politician is lying? His lips will be moving! The old ones are the best.
I live in Toowoomba which is 2,1/2 hours from Brisbane, it is located 1.000 feet above sea level. Which means we have colder winters (by Australian standards) but we do not get the humity they do all the way up from the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast. Which makes summer pleasent as we allways get a cooling wind.

I live in the highlands of the Hudson River Valley -- about 90 miles north of New York City and 90 miles south of Albany, New York. The Iroquois name for the river translated as "the river that flows both ways" -- as it is a tidal river. Just south of where I live the river reaches its greatest width (3.5 miles) and greatest depth (175 feet). Near where I live the Hudson switches over from salt water to fresh water -- as such the valley is a bona fide fjord:

It really is a lovely area in which to live. Glad you got to Fort Montgomery -- most folks miss it in their rush to get to West Point. If you come back, another interesting place to visit is the Stony Point battlefield a little further south. This is where General "Mad Anthony" Wayne had his men carry him at the head of the charge with sword raised after falling wounded while storming British positions.
