Gunner was kind enough to sell me 10 of his unused NavWar and Devco 1:1200 ships. I received them in good time last Friday, thank you Gunner! ( I wish there was a 'Good Trader' button on this ship so I could push it for you.)

After looking through the ships I decided on the 3rd rate Dutch SOL Revolutie. The Revolutie was a Dutch 3rd rate ship of the line carrying a nominal 68 carriage guns. It was launched June 15th, 1779 at Rotterdam. It was captured by the British on August 17th, 1796 and renamed the HMS Prince Frederick.

Wow, what a difference with these ships. It took way more work than I had anticipated to get a decent model that would go on the table with my Langton and GHQ ships. Everything I had to do is layed out on my blogsite http://volsminiatures.blogspot.com/.

Here are some photos of the result:

Here is a comparison shot with Langton's HMS Glatton:

So I'm happy with the way it turned out and I plan to build the rest of them......eventually!

I always thought I was good, untill now. I bow to the master rigger. NavWar never looked so good.

And here is more evidence of why I can't wait for the SoG ships to become available. :(
I can't even get the masts to point the right way, let alone even think of attempting to do the rigging.

You are in very good company. Be careful, though. I have found that looking at pictures here and on the Aerodrome has inspired me to try my hand at some WWI plane repaints and an Age-of-Sail model. The talent of our fellow mates is seductive.

Look at the bright side, with the SoG ship already built and painted, you can practice rigging it.

With my luck I'd spend 2 months getting a simple 'one-strand' rigging done which just joins the three masts only to have the ship lose it's rigging within the first move or two of the game. :p
