1770 - Horatio Nelson entered as midshipman in HMS Raisonnable.
1806 - Boats from Rear Admiral Sir Edward Pellew's squadron (Culloden, Belliqueux, Powerful, Russell, Sea Flower, Sir Francis Drake, Terpsichore) engaged and destroyed a Batavian squadron of six warships including the frigate Phoenix and 20 merchantmen at Batavia (Djakarta)

1811 - HMS Eagle (74) captured the French frigate Corcyre (28) off Brindisi after an eleven hour chase. Her companions, the frigate Uranie and brig Scemoplone escaped.
