Here isa very short game that we played to test the layout for Copenhagen this summer.
It was based on an English Frigate sounding out the still nuteral Danish Middle ground for a possible attack.

As dawn approached a French Frigate tried to pass inside the channel to avoid the British squadron sailing along the sound on the far side of the Middle Ground.

The British Frigate spots the French.

This enrages the Danish manning the Fort. As the French have opened fire in their territotial waters they respond.

The first tim of firing with a double shotted rake is enough to finish the French Frigate.

She surrenders, and we both decided it was the quickest game we had ever played.

Was Nelson on that frigate? Other than the help from ashore it's uncannily reminiscent of his opening salvo into Bucentaure at Trafalgar...

No sir.
It was the redoubtable (not the ship) Captain Kiwi manning the British ship, against an AAR Frenchman. I was running the game and manning the Danish Trekroner Battery. The game was over so quickly that we had time for a second one which I will post up shortly.
