Ratlines (pronounced "rattlins") are lengths of thin line tied between the shrouds (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shroud_(sailing)) of a sailing ship (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sailing_ship) to form a ladder. Found on all square-rigged (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Square_rig) ships (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship), whose crews must go aloft to stow the square sails, they also appear on larger fore-and-aft rigged (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fore-and-aft_rig) vessels to aid in repairs aloft or conduct a lookout from above.
Lower courses in a ratline are often made of slats of wood (battens (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batten)) for support where the distance between shrouds is greatest. These wooden boards are called rat-boards. In some instances holes in these slats guide and organise low-tension lines between the deck and the rig.

To make the "haubans" so the ratlines ! I took out some material I used a few decades ago on the Heller rig of "La Sirène" at 1/200th. Obviously reducing the scale since here it is 1/1000th.
