This weekend was Rory McCreadie's memorial Trafalgar refight. A spririted action was fought at Entoyment in Poole, resulting in a glorious victory for the French and Spanish allies.

A brief report on the Trafalgar game and the naval skirmish played out the following way can be found here:

It was a cracking weekend which I think Rory would have been very pleased with. We might end up making this an annual event...

Thanks for posting this Dave, and the link to the AAR. It looked like a lot of fun especially the Pirates game.

Thank you for this report, David. It sounds like you all had a good time. So Nelson's tactics could be beaten.

Should certainly have been far closer if the Van and rear of the Combined Fleet had behaved with alacrity.
Nevertheless, if our rules allowed for the extra speed of British firepower and use of carronades smashing power at close range, it should have proved Nelson correct. He knew his men and ships as well as the weaknesses of the enemy.

Lets just say that the Allied admirals were considerably more aggressive than their historical counterparts. Nelson knew his real world opponents wouldn't be, hence his approach to the battle.

Exactly Dave, which takes nothing away from your excellent enactment. It would be no fun if every game exactly followed history.
