A View from the Masthead.

Some of the action from Sunday.Game one Valdivia.38021Setting up.

38022The Chilean Navy starts maneuvers under the command of Commodore Deadly M.

38023Fort Niebla prepares to fire.

38024After taking some fire the ships press on to close with the Spanish Frigates.

38025Calamity for the Chileans as ships run aboard each other under the guns of Forts San Pedro and Corral.

38026

38027Entangled, they start to take serious damage from the forts and the Spanish frigates as they slip past in an attempt to reach the open sea.

38029

38030Eventually Latauro is forced to strike, whilst disentangled Galverino (Cpt Kiwi, clever chap) gets a tow off by his ships boats.

38031Clear of the damage he prepares for action.

38032Arriving late to the action San Martin is treated to fire from San Pedro fort.

38033Galverino gives a telling parting shot to Mahonessa.

38034The Spanish make good their escape pursued by San Martin under constant fire.

38035A final insult as San Martin is set on fire.

A win for the Spanish and Admiral Roberto.

Rob.

Next! A French vs British punch up.

Thanks for posting the photos - I like your sea mat and terrain. Now I see what the card holders are used for too!

Hi Eric.
They just make it easier to follow the action, and the punters can spot their own ship easier as well.

Game two. French vs British.

38052
Using Chris's Squadron this time, the ships waste no time getting into action as the first two pass each other firing Grape over Ball at short range and missing.

38053
Before long the fight becomes general.

38054
Two ships very nearly collide but the fire from the tops was telling in itself.

38055
Very soon any semblance of a line of battle is totally awry.

38056
The British try frantically to retrieve the position.

38057
Two of the French try a pincer movement to get their yet to be fired other sides with first time bonus into action.

38058
With one enemy ship successfully taken out by the ploy they close in on the remaining two British ships.

38059
Catastrophe for the British. A rake from the fresh broadside of the French Flagship.

38060
After a few more moves one British ship strikes and the other makes off badly mauled.

38061
An unexpected victory for the French.
I would like to thank Capt Kiwi for taking most of the photos for this game, as I was heavily engaged in commanding the French Fleet and trying to get the Flagship upwind for most of the action.

In answer to the question about the mat. It is Chris's donated to him by the proprietor of one of the stands at his last show. I am sure he would be pleased to give you information about this if you ask him Eric.

The sea mat in the pics was donated to us from http://www.tinywargames.co.uk

They make cloth and rubber backed mats size range from 3’ by 3’ to 8’ by 6’ and they can make custom sizes if required.
