On 18 June 1812 the U.S. Congress declared war on the United Kingdom, formally starting the conflict. The House of Representatives had deliberated for four days behind closed doors before voting 79 to 49 (61% in favor) the first declaration of war, and the Senate agreed by 19 to 13 (59% in favor). None of the 39 Federalists in Congress voted in favor of the war; critics of war subsequently referred to it as "Mr. Madison's War," as President James Madison had pushed for war.

On 18 June 1815 The Battle of Waterloo results in the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte by the Duke of Wellington and Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher forcing him to abdicate the throne of France for the second and last time.

Thus ending over 20 years of continuous warfare in Europe and across the seas of the world. Heralding in relative peace in Europe for the next 40 years despite the fundamental changes to the underlying structures of society the Revolution and Empire have sparked, but the rot of monastic rule had well and truly been seeded.

I think you mean "monarchical", not "monastic" -- if the royalty of Europe had lived like monks, they might still be running the show.... :)
