Game one.

30192

Mutiny at the Nore.

30193
British sailors send representatives to the Admiral to complain about ships and conditions.

30195

The French Admiral seizes the initative whilst the British are negotiating over a pot of tea in the cafe.

30194

Slipping past Duncan's covering squadron the approach the anchored and paralyzed British ships off the Nore.

30196

The French bow rake each ship in turn.

30197
After inflicting serious damage on the British Fleet, the French squadron withdraws unscathed, whilst the British Officers are still on their second cup of tea.

And they say pictures cannot lie!

Game two.

With the Mutiny crushed. (Well the tea in the Cafe ran out) The British Squadron sets sail vowing revenge on what they see as the underhand duplicitous, cheating, frog eating French. I resemble that remark.

30208
The action opens with the leading French ship bow raking the lead English ship.

3019930209
Retribution is swiftly metered out from the Spanish allies.

30210
The French once more seize the initiative.

3020130211
The action now becomes general as the first French ship strikes.

3020230212

After further maneuvering both squadrons are battered but regroup for one last effort.

3020330213

With ships now entangled and under fire from all sides.

3020430214
Two of the British Captains confer.

3020530215
The Admiral is called in and both sides are badly mauled but a narrow British victory results.

30216

The French withdraw the remaining ships.

3020730217
Guess who drew three fire cards during the action!
Some things never change whatever game you are playing.

Game three.

30218
With new crews ready for actionthe afternoon session begins.

30219
This time the French adopt a different tactic andattempt to cut the British line.

30220
Meanwhile at the other end of the line a more Pell Mell approach develops.

30221
The head of the line now constitutes two ships in a solo duel.

30222
Frenetic fighting continues at the rear of the line.

30223
Still no result is in sight.

30224
Thwarted at all turns, one of the British Captains displays his true colours.

30225
My French Captains sense victory but have to settle for a draw.

Le Grande Finale.

30226
A new breed of English Captains emerge.

30227
A general action materializes.

30228
First blood.

30229
The action becomes general with some very telling double broadsides from both squadrons.

30230
Not a good spot to be in but a French victory this time.

Post script.

After the main battle with a little time remaining a solo french Captain was cornered by two British ships.

30233

30234

30235
The British converged upon the French ship.

30236
Le crunch!

30237
Le double crunch!

30238
As one British ship broke free, the Hand to hand fighting ended with a British victory.

Thus the days honours ended equal.

Merde!

That is by far the most and best set of Sails games I have seen at shows.

After the shaky start with no punters in evidence, whilst we decimated the British Fleet, we had a steady flow for the rest of the day until about three O 'clock when that last chap arrived for the one on two game. that was really just a learning game for him.
We also had Chris and Simon busy answering onlookers questions, so a good day all round.

Thank you Dave.
They all told us they had enjoyed the games and were surprise on how easy they were to pick up.
it is the first time at any show that I have been too busy to take any pictures on the Wings table.

Great fights between 1st rates, Rob.

Don't understand what happened in Game 1, but this was an unique chance for the French and they used it.

Mon admiral! :salute:

It was a dishonourable and sly underhanded trick by the Frenchies, waiting until the English captains were at Breakfast, jolly well not on I tell you. However once we had the situation under control we soon had them in trouble.

For a change we decided to give the first rates a run out, most of my big ships havent had a run out as yet so it was good to try them out, plus the first action for my Spanish three decker, well three decker in name that it if not in size :bleh:

Mon Dieu!

I just knew the perfidious English would play down the Mutiny in their Fleet.
Never since the time of the Dutch Admiral de Ruyter has such humiliation been visited upon them in their own back yard.
