Hi all, :salute:
I am 26 years old from Genoa, Italy. I only just recently immersed myself in the wonderful age of sails history and theme reading Patrick O'Brian books. Being a boardgame geek I found Sails of Glory and here I am.
Great game!
After having made new ship mats and ship logs (I found the originals from the game impratical), I'm currently reworking artillery and burden values because I found some discrepancy confronting ships from http://threedecks.org/ and the ships from SoG. I just want to find if I can make more proportionate values without sacrificing the simplicity of the actual game.

best regards,

Carlo

Welcome Carlo, from Bristol, uk.
I would be interested to see your new stats and the rational behind any changes when you are ready.
Have you got any pics of your changes to the mats and logs so we can see the differences ?

Hi Chris,

I already have the stats on the excel file that I used to calculate them. I will create a new thread on the topic soon!
Here it is a picture of my mats. I wanted to keep them simple so I scanned the game mats with the logs and modified them with Gimp. I created black and white images and printed them on some A4 papers used to pack fried food (I liked the colour). Then I glued them on cardboard and inserted them in transparent office envelopes:
26529

I have the pdf files for each of the eight ships in the starter set if someone is intrested

Sorry for the inverted photo

Hi again Carlo.
DB and the stats committee are working on something similar at this time so any input you may care to make will be appreciated.
I can also now welcome you in person as it were.:hatsoff:
I am sure that you will soon find some great shipmates here. As I said in my PM this is far more than just an ordinary site.:drinks:
Rob.

Very much welcome here in our small fleet!

We are some who tinker with making our own ships we find missing in the Ares range.

There are some of Ares choices that I find a little strange, but I think it all works out quite well in the end. It would be nice to here your thoughts on the matter.
