I commented earlier Julián but now I see her in a finished state she is even more beautiful, and I wonder if we will ever get our Ares one?

Me too Rob, I would like to convert Sail of Glory Santisima Trinidad like I did with HMS Victory, maybe some day...

That would be truly awesome Julián, and you have a model to base it on.
Just needs scaling up.
Rob.

If we ever get Santissima to Sails I will order it from you, Julián.
I'd probably get another one to use in games, though. Your models may be made for gaming but they are just too beautiful to risk any accidents happen to them.

I understand what you mean.
To give the best stability to Sail of Glory ships I use magnets, that way I prevent ships tips over so easily.

I know what you mean Julián. I have dropped a number of ships whilst putting them away. They come off the bases so easily.
I am toying with the idea of gluing the whole assembly together. That would be cheaper than buying 40 odd magnets.

Nice one.

I hope we'll see her as a "special pack" soon.

Yes, we can but hope Sven.

I can't remember, have Ares ever said they would release a special pack Santissima or has this always been a wishful thinking ?

Rumors and rumors about rumors Chris.

Really, there's nothing official? Then who at Ares posted this reply on the SoG Facebook page on September 3, 2016?

We plan to release Santisima Trinidad as a Special Ship Pack (like Victory and Constitution) - be patient! More Spanish ships are coming.

I don't have a FB account, but I do regularly check messages there.

I have no idea where this came from, but any extra information would be very welcome.

We've not yet got to discussing stats, where it is in the release schedule, details of the colour scheme etc.

Would we be up for another Kick starter?
Rob.

TexaS

We probably would. The biggest problem would be if stores felt betrayed and wouldn't carry Sails as a result.

Capn Duff

I would subscribe, depending upon the offer of course

That is the strange shortsightedness of Stores I'm afraid Jonas and you are quite right.
If they think it through logically, no Kick Starter. The ship may never be released, hence no sails for them.
Kickstarter, no sails directly, but might stir up enough interest for new players to buy ship and then need ships to combat it. Hence store sails are generated. Long term it may eventually be on general release with sales by store of both said ship and opponents. A win win situation whichever way you look at it.

Absolutely!

As for Jonas' point on store sales being impacted, I doubt it would make much difference in my area. There are no local brick and mortar stores selling Sails of Glory games to the best of my knowledge. I have to go through online sales via Cool Stuff, Inc. or Miniature Market to get my ships and accessories.

I just remember stores complaining about that after the last kickstarter. Now it's in very few stores anyway. I've seen some sales where they want to get rid of their stock.

I think I've seen it in two out of five stores in Sweden. That's mostly stores visiting conventions.

Jonas do you find that the only miniature games that seem to be in the local game and hobby stores are Star Wars X Wing and Warhammer? Even the local big box department stores are carrying the X Wing miniature game now.

TexaS
11-08-2016, 15:03
Yes. X-wing, Armada, Warhammer and maybe Flames of War. Those you can find in most hobby stores.

David Manley

X Wing crops up in many games and model shops here in the UK. If I was of a mind to splurge on ships I don't think I'd have any problems picking up just about anything in the range within 30 miles of home (the model shop in Frome has more X Wing stuff than I've ever seen in one place before!) It even crops up in regular book shops now

TexaS

The only "games" shop I have at all within 30 miles (or 50 km as I translated it to for convenience) is a train and models shop (just over 45 km away) that also have Warhammer but not much else. We're not as densely populated in Sweden.

Bligh

Quite a few games shops in this neck of the woods, none of which carry Sails. Some have Wings, but we have lost several games shops over the last ten years. I do all my Sails stuff either at Shows or on line, currently with Keith.

I just remembered that a comics store quite nearby have a few X-wing boxes. He used to have Wings but nothing else in miniature gaming. It's stuff like Elevenses, Carcassonne and Settlers that he has except for the comics. A few smaller card games and a few board games.

Nightmoss

Thanks for the comments, one and all. For some of you it sounds like miniatures outside of X Wing, Warhammer and some others are a bit more plentiful? Board games are the big thing around my side of Madison. Like Jonas mentions above; Settlers of Cataan, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, etc. Role Playing Games like Dungeons and Dragons are also a big thing here in town.
