Great to see you've found yourself a new project!

Out of interest: Do you have any background information about HMS Lively and what she looked like you can share? All I know is from the Aubrey-Maturin-Novels (though there she is described rather detailed).

There's plans easily found on google images. The Leda-class ships were very much like the Hebe-class that is sculpted by Ares. It doesn't have that strange poopdeck though, and not that sloping stern. Otherwise it's mostly me modding the mainmast to add a royal sail. The foremast broke as usual for the second wave ships.

Sounds like a reasonably easy mod to make then Jonas.
I will follow your work with interest.
I still have a couple of those broken masted ships.
Rob.

I'd say you can get away with it as is, but as you probably know by now I have an obsession for rebuilding the ships to add a little diversity. This age may be about the first time many ships looking very much the same made up the lines, but I still like to recognize most ships in the line without reading on the bases.

It's worth noting that the Leda was a copy of the Hebe and not just looking a little alike.

The mizzen mast by the way was removed by me to get at the poop. It will be put back unaltered as will the foremast.

Actually I meant the painting of the hull, not the overall shape, or will you just leave it as it is?

The existing paint is close to the white line or yellow line I've seen (both) on contemporary pictures of Lively so I'm just going to paint the masts and fixed stern.

Not much have been done but at least there's something.
The main mast has been fixed and the other masts have been pinned but not yet glued.

Any chance of a close up to see what you have done with the poop and stern Jonas?
Rob.

You, my good sir, are asking for pictures in a time and age where almost anything is possible with frigates roaming the world an even mail reaches the new worlds in a few weeks time!

Here you are, sir. I hope they please you. :hatsoff:

Thank you kind sir.
My, but your artist can achieve such fine detail on that small scale.
Is he perchance a Miniature painter?
I fain would have one for my Good Lady's locket.
Bligh.

The carpenter will now have to construct carriages for two more guns for the quarterdeck.
That and some small work on the lower part of the very stern and the hands can apply the paint.

I'm sure that they will make a very good job of it indeed Jonas.

Ouch. Looking at the pictures on a large computer screen instead of on the phone I now see how out of focus the first picture is.

Oh well. There will be new pictures when more work have been done.

Very fine she looks too Jonas.
A real tribute to her Master and Commander.
Do you have a ship card for her?
Rob.
