Simon brought his Pirate Fleet over to Chez Bligh on Saturday, so I just could not resist a game after all the conflicting views we have been getting. Was it as bad as suggested?

The Allies, Chris and I, fielded a Spanish Frigate and an HEIC 44 against three Pirate Frigates, Simon.

A tight spot.:erk:

Well that leaves me then!

I might have guessed the damned Pirates would board.

No way out of this one for me.

And the Pirates did not even lose a single ship!:salute:

Thanks for the AAR. Congrats to the pirates as well!! :Arrrr:

Nice job on the pirate ship boards. Is Chris using made up statistics or are they straight from the game and existing ships?

The Pirate ships are Simon's Jim. I believe he was just using the straight stats as shown on the Ship mats in the photos at the end of the game.

Looks like good fun.

How did you find the scenario of playing against pirates?

Bligh

The scenario was basically just the same as any other excepting that they were intent on boarding at every opportunity, so preventing collisions was a top priority. It bred that fear of Pirates that many ships seemed to have.

Well, he did an excellent job of matching the font and including the names on the mats. The individual ship cards also look very well done. Even down to the small pirate flags in the upper right corner of each ship data card. :salute:

I was very impressed with the whole set up as well.
We really enjoyed the game.

Thank you for the good AAR, Rob. It is a shame that the forces of Law and Order were defeated.

I think we underestimated three things Dave.

Taking on three Frigates even with a 44 and another Frigate did not account for the facts that three ships means you have to divide your shot. Also one is always in a position to move freely to rake you whilst you are engaging its partner. The fact that Simon was in command of all three ships meant that he could coordinate his attack, whilst Chris and I had to guess at what each other would do. You can't take that sort of risk with a Captain of Simon's caliber, and expect to get away with it. I feel that even a 32 would have swung the result in our favour.
That said Simon played a masterful game, as the photographs display, or not if you can't see them.:salute:

I guess the forces of Law and Order will need to engage in more Press Gang activities then? :sly:

What I really needed was to employ a Company of the Bombay Marine on my HEIC ship Jim.
That way I would have won the boarding action.

The chap in the t-shirt is none other than Cpt. Duff Paul.
