Till we get the game I am trying out my mini skills on ships. Here's first go at it, hope you enjoy! There were two but one got "shipped" offshore down under.

My usual materials, bass wood hull, scored, stained, coated with clear lacquer. Masts from spruce rod. Sails from Japanese tissue, lined with a pencil, sealed with artist fixative. Rigging is surgical silk.

Needs a base! Been dropped a few times, hard on the rigging and the crew.

A bit early, 1545, and a larger scale, but these things are easy to knock out. Now to dig out my shipwright books!

Very nice; the Mary Rose has a soft spot in my historical section simce that period is one I intend to recreate in the SCA (being an archer and all ;) ).
You know, if you crank out ships as fast as you do planes, you'll be fielding fleets at your local cons.

You left the lower gunports open, you fool! :)

(Anyone familiar with _Mary Rose_ will get this.)

Gunports weren't the real issue - excessive personnel coupled with an ill-conceived refit was the killer.

Two! Ye really aint trying you lubber. There is a decendant of yours who can knock out craft at a dozen a time. He calls it botch production or some such.
Bligh.
Very nice as usual. I've a soft spot for the Mary Rose myself, ever since I saw it emerge from the Solent on that cradle.

Her history is fascinating indeed, that is why I chose her. The archaeology is intoxicating! Mean while I am looking for ships to build "en mass" that we will be playing, their base designs and ship/sail plans would be nice as well. I got totally addicted to Pirates of the Spanish Main years ago, still have a fleet of those in drawers . . .
