I sailed mine yesterday.
First one with 74s, and then the second one with my ships for the Campaign. Cpt Smithers came over for the morning games and drew the AI cards, diced for movement etc.
In the evening Cpt Kiwi popped in and we had a one on one game, so quite a busy day.
Will try to get the pictures up this weekend.

Very nice, your forces are clearly the winners! And finally some perfect situation for using grape shots, I always end up using rounds all the time...

I usually also use only rounds.
But these time it was the perfect choice. The french frigate was dismasted and heckled. So I tryed the grapeshot. :shootright:

Intersting setup & scenario, but this was definitely decided by collisions between AI ships.

Isn't there a rule that prevent collisions between AI controlled ships? ...and that they run aground?

The thing which miffs me most about collisions is that friendly ships take damage but if you hit an enemy there is none.

I also was not sure how to play this and decided to do it that way.

The Aquilon (the first 74 in the channel) was taken aback two times and drifted onto the shore. Just in that moment the second 74 (Redoutable) sailed into the Aquilon in spite of turning hard starboard.
So I decided that they have to collide. Maybe there is a special AI rule that prevent that? I don't know...

In the next turn both ships where again against the wind and in contact each other. The Aquilon had no chance to get off the shore against the wind.
And because of the close island on the other side of the channel also for the Redoutable there was no option against the wind.
Remember the old seafarer wisdom: Stay away from shoreside coasts!
So I decided to celebrate a little hollywood finish for both ships.
But I think it was also realistic! The channel route was too dangerous for these big ships with that wind conditions.

Very well done. I'd love to play some of you guys. Reading your aar's is a constant source for new tactics.

I must say that was an enthralling game Matthais.
When I wrote the scenario I never envisaged that sort of ending for it.
I half expected a 74 to get into bother if it took the channel, but not two.
Great action and story line.
Bravo.
