Hi all,

Have picked up the starter set and have ordered a Victory and Impérial. I want to to up ratines and some stays.

I have ordered some Languor ratines, PE1s for the 1st rates, PE2s for the 74s and PE4s for the Frigates.

Are there any tips and tricks to get these to fit easily.

Also, any guides for rigging stays

Andrew, I highly recommend you check out Rory's Guide to Rigging 1/1200 ships. It's information that is useful regardless of scale. See here:

If you have questions along the way just ask. I'm sure someone will be able to assist. Cheers!

Cheers.

I have rigged a 1/196 Victory before, and that was....fun...

Ratlines are ordered, turns out theres the only Australian stockist about 30min away from me.

Had a stab and rigging the stays on the Aquilon, as it the largest and French, so I can make mistakes

Good effort there Andrew. That's more than I have taken on thus far.
Neil, aka Union Jack has produced a nice explanation of how he rigs his ships. If i can find it I will post a link.

Also, you could employ the paintbrush method Keith has posted here:

Looking very good Andrew.
I am still toying with if it is viable to do all my 50 plus ships or not.
It is not just the time involved, it's the price.

I have the ambition to paint and rig all of my 60+ ships. I've not yet decided on ratlines. I have too few to do it now and my first try wasn't a complete success. But when Keith make more available I will probably buy all I need anyway.

I was wondering about just putting ratlines on and leaving the standing rigging off.

I add the standing rigging as it also strengthen the ships.

I agree with Jonas. Standing rigging gives the SoG ships a lot more durability, as do ratlines, but the standing rigging covers more real estate.

Oh, now I want to go back to Argonauta and add the rigging lines I missed.

French Frigate done.

Simplified the rigging process, using only 5 lengths of thread.

1st mizzen forestay from base of main mast, then to mizzen maintops and used for backstays

2nd main forestay starting base of foremast, then maintops, backstays and then mizzen gallanttops forestay then to the mizzensail spar

3rd. Lower bowsprit to foretops, then run backstays, then to maingallent tops then to mizzen topgallent spars

4th from upper bowsprit as forestay to foregallenttops then to main main topgallent spar

5th from tip of bowsprit to foretopgallent spar to main royals spar
