My son Neville did a trip on the Young Endevour from Hobart to Sydney he had a great time trip of a life time, especially the storm in Bass Straight!
Excellant photo. Gives a good prospective.

Really is a great picture. I think the aesthetic comparison is subjective, but the differences in fuel consumption...

No Endeavour was captained by James Cook and surveyed the east coast of Australia in 1770. Convicts to van diemens land came later, first they went to Sydney (1788) then later Tasmania (VD Land).
Might be some criminals on the QM2 mind you....

Found that prison ships were still being used as late as 2005 by the UK. Here's a link:

That one got past me. I had no idea that we were using ships as prisons as late as that.
They kept that quiet, or I read the wrong papers.
