I think I just saw this for the first time: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mysteriouspirate/empires-at-sea?ref=thanks

Here's it tag line: Empires at Sea: An Epic duel across the Seven Seas. A game of trade, exploration, and war. And pirates. Don't forget about pirates.

Interesting! This is the first I've heard of the game. I'm still waiting on word of SeaFall: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/148261/seafall

I do like the art and it fits my criteria for future gaming. Tempting!

P.S. I went ahead and backed it. Very low entry cost all things considered and I do like the map and artwork.

Hadn't seen it before. It does look interesting. It does look like you could have a second use for the game's components when not in use as a way to track SOG ships in a campaign. I could see sailing HMS Surprise around the world, randomly finding and engaging enemy ships in SOG battles as you move across the map, as well as joining friendly ships and engaging in even bigger battles. At $49 rather inexpensive for a Kickstarter game or a game off the shelf at your FLGS.

Sounds like a great idea to me Bobby. Will fill in those spare evenings beautifully.

Bobby, your idea sounds like a good way to play a solo campaign.

I am very tempted, but I just backed a couple of games, so I will wait until it hits retail, and we have some reviews in-hand.

The KS page says the map is "perfectly to scale", I dont know but those Atlantic islands look awfully big and Britain looks just plain weird! Must be a new mapping projection.

Is it a Peters Projection map?

Empires at Sea has shipped and I received my copy on Easter Sunday. Haven't had a chance to dig into the game yet, but the components and such look first rate. Game is available direct and eventually through various online vendors. Cheers!
