In the course of searching for more information on the USS Constitution, specifically flags and ensigns flown during the War of 1812, I came across this digital title available through the HathiTrust catalog. Just a few years before I retired the UW-Madison campus was involved in the Google Book Project, which is partnered with HathiTrust. Google scans the books in a large scale operation and the HathiTrust makes them available for online research. If you follow the link you'll see many similar titles available for reading online. You may also see some titles that Google has scanned showing up in an online catalog, but are not available for digital use due to copyright restrictions. Recent court decisions have upheld the legal right of the consortium to provide access to scanned books that do not violate copyright, so there are thousands of books in the public domain you can access online. I'd completely forgotten about this great online resource. Enjoy and Cheers!

Coincidence, purely, coincidence.

The little I have read on Hull, he has impressed me. I really look forward to reading this text you found.
