Following on the poll started by HMS Lydia, (Bob), I suggested another poll regarding how the Chits are being used when your playing. So here are the possible selections for this poll!

1. Return Chits at the end of each Turn.
2. Only return Chits when a ship is sunk, or removed from the game.
3. Once drawn Chits remain out of the pool until end of game.
4. Each player draws, then returns Chits in order after damage is marked.
5. Other method used.

This Poll is set to run for three weeks! :salute:

I return chits at the end of every turn. This makes it quite easy to assign and record damage without much delay between players, and keeps the stats relatively stable throughout the game. I use multiple counter sets as well. The only way to ensure complete consistency would be to pull, record, and replace each individual chit or to use a dice mechanism, neither of which are attractive to me for other reasons. Basically, I am trying to balance statistics and speed/flow while maintaining the drama of falling chits. I have not received a single complaint from a player, so I will keep using this schema until evidence points to a better one that considers the criteria - stability, speed, and drama.

I have been leaving chits out of the pool. But for future games, I'm leaning toward returning after the end of each turn.

Also, somewhere, someone was asking whether people use one chit set or multiple. I use two combine sets. This has worked well for up to 18 ships (9 per side).

Wasn't there already a poll with these questions?

John,

Actually no, there was a previous poll asking about the use of laminated sheets, paper ship mats, or using the game as is. This poll as described is a follow up to that poll as far as just how folks prefer to use the chits in the course of play.

I must admit to having three sets of chits in my pool so once drawn they remain out untill end of game

My pool of chits is the same as Chris's.
No need to worry about them going back until after the game ends.
