For those of you who lean towards the French "Marine Nationale" there is a new book on the horizon coming (hopefully) in August of this year that you may want to start saving for now!!

http://www.amazon.com/French-Warships-Age-Sail-1786/dp/1848322046/ref/

If it's anything like the previous books on the British, Dutch, and Russian navies you'll want this one on your "Must Have" list!!

It is also listed on the other International Amazon sites if you want to pre-order!

To-Do Listed... Why in the Lord's Good Name can't Barnes and Noble pry their head out of their ass re Winfield's works for their e-reader format? I swear, some mental-midget in their offices is begging for a Gibbs-slap...

With prices like that for the hardback copies, I see what you are getting at, Diamondback.

E-copies are also more portable. Fight with a big heavy hardcover in addition to my laptop, or just have the same data on my laptop? Easy choice. :)

DB,

Judging by the number of Fiction Books my wife downloads from B & N when compared to the History books I download on my reader it's clear they tend to cater more to the Fiction crowd!

While their Non-Fiction/History side leans more toward the biographical and political reader! I usually end up buying the actual book more often as they too often are not available for download for B & N's Nook Reader!!

It often makes me rethink about renewing our membership, but with what the wife downloads all the time it keeps her happy at least!!

How come we can't say Charles Dickens, or Dick Turpin on Wings, but DB can use ass not as in Donkey with impunity?

I was on a forum for Crimson Skies when it was taken over by Microsoft. Someone wrote buttbuttin and none understood until we realised the forum changed ass to butt.

Being a Bastard Operator From Hell has its privileges... :D Not enough to compensate for the stress from resisting the overpowering urge to go get a baseball bat and beat clues into some idiots' thick, deserving skulls, but it does have a few perks with the title. :p

In all seriousness, Rob, I think as an older site the Drome has had more spam problem to need language filters turned on, whhile Keith hasn't needed to set them up here.

Or maybe he just figured "let the sailors swear like, well, sailors..." LOL

Could well be right there DB.
I have just had a spell as Duty Officer dealing with spammers on the Drome whilst Eric was busy, and came to realize just how many he must deal with each day.

Yeah, I'm on a board for collectors of memorabilia from a particular movie franchise and found myself getting something similar there over "wristwatch"... I was like "Whiskey Tango Fox, Interrogative, OVER?!" until I read this thread.

And ideed it has just this minute arrived

Very heavy, packed with really useful stuff, will comment on it more when I have had a chance to go through it. But (for me) the good news is it goes right up to the Crimea / Northern War and beyond, which is an area of particular interest just now.....
