Which Age of Sail series is your favourite?

Does David Drake's Daniel Leary series count? :)

If it does, then the first few Honor Harrington novels should, as well, until they get to the point where it abruptly flips to being modern and Tom Clancy-ish.

I went with Forrester even though I enjoy just as much O'Brien and Kent, and the Ramage series equally! I do prefer reading an action packed story like "Hornblower" and "Bilitho", as sometimes the minutia of the period presented by O'Brien sometimes causes my eyes to glaze over. However, I still find the series interesting to read due to the character development the series takes you through!

Oh, heck, I forgot Pope! Should I nuke this poll and start over with Ramage included?

And that's why the Learyverse scores over the Honorverse. That, and Drake has not succumbed to "900-page 'action' novel with 9 pages of People Shooting At Each Other". >:)

LOL, we all have our rookie Teething Difficulties... as for me, I'm more the Heavy Metal of WWII than Wooden Ships & Iron Men, but kinda got dragged down this sidetrack because getting in on the ground floor as a consultant was a chance to help Ares avoid some o the pitfalls of other nautical mass-market games. *stares pointedly at WizKids Pirates*

Did someone say "heavy metal?"

Looks like an US BB crossing the English Channel after a successful operation "Seelöwe" in 1946.

I appreciate the characters of several of the characters in the Hornblower series.

Forrester fan, tried and true, including some of his non-HH stories.
Following that, it's a toss-up of O'Brien, Honorverse, Niven (Known Space has many interstellar voyages), and Niven/Pournelle (The Mote In God's Eye),etc.
Oh. And e.e. "Doc" Smith's Lensman and Skylark series.
