Howdy gang,

Been playing for a while, occasionally, but just signed up for the boards today. Besides SoG, I play Axis & Allies Naval Miniatures (War at Sea) and Air Miniatures (Angels 20), as well as Naval Thunder and various Sci Fi stuff. Looking forward to playing next week with a buddy in San Diego!

Greetings Dale. Welcome aboard the Anchorage. :salute:

I'll let Eric tell you about the new solo campaign (if he hasn't already posted a message before I finish typing this).

Welcome aboard, Dale!

I'm also in the Bay Area (western Sonoma County).
Nice to see more of us discovering the game and joining the Anchorage.

Thanks gang!

I'm south of San Francisco, near SFO, actually. Any of you planning to attend KublaCon? I demo'd SoG there last year. ;)

As Jim mentioned, we are starting a solo campaign. Here is the forum: http://sailsofglory.org/forumdisplay.php?41-2015-Solo-Campaign

If you would like to join, let me know and I will be happy to help you get started.

KublaCon sounds great -- but I can't go, unfortunately. It's not terribly far, but just far enough away from me to not be practical as a daytrip activity. Can't afford to stay overnight either -- which would really be the best way to get the best deal on a pass and spend more time playing than driving to/from the site.

Eric, thanks I will look those over!

Gina, I do have a buddy in Sebastapol who's interested in the game, so maybe a game can be had at some point!

Cool! Just be advised that compared to the typical profile of a young, male miniatures gamer, I'm really frickin' old -- probably old enough to be your grandmother! So if you're trolling for babes, or if gaming with Granny seems weird to you, maybe FTF with me isn't such a great idea...I like diversity and I'm an open minded sort of person, but I must admit I'm not all that comfortable in atmosphere of game stores, game cons, and other hyper-male-dominated environments either. So wargaming is a private hobby for me, and I've tended to stick to PBEM and solo play. Maybe the presence of some nearby SGN afficionados will finally lure me out of the closet...

Dale,
FYI, there's also a great hobby/game store in Rohnert Park called Fundemonium (http://fundemoniumtoys.com/), which has a tables area and hosts lots of different gaming and modeling groups on its monthly calendar. Friendly family owned store, nice clean atmosphere. If we found there were ever enough SGN players in the North Bay or willing to travel up US 101, we might consider investigating that as a place for a special event -- like a fleet action.

I do love the diversity of the forum. Gina get going and show them how its done female style. Don't let we archons of gaming put you off strutting your stuff at shows and gaming outlets. As long as your having fun who cares. Just take a gander at the aerodrome site, uk wing, doncaster gathering and see how many female players we had there. (At least 20%). And some were mighty dangerous I can tell you.

And welcome Dale and Gina to the site. Drop Eric a PM and get in on the solo campaign. It's going to be fun.

Is San Antonio Hobby Shop in Mountain View still open? Just south of Palo Alto & just west of the 101 on El Camino Real. That used to be a great gaming hobby shop for board and miniature gamers.

I don't know. I was in there 3 years ago and it was going strong, looked like an amazing little shop.

Welcome Dale!

I thought that Axis & Allies Naval Miniatures (War at Sea) is long out of production. Can you still get unopened products in this line?

Colby, once in a VERY LONG while you'll find deadstock boosters at some of the e-tailers.

Back when I was Research Board BOFH on Forumini (AAM/WAS forum), Brigs was one of my users, and I always took him for around my age, maybe a little older (I'm 34).

Hey Brigs, remember that troll "King_Tiger"? :D
