Musee de la Marine Paris

My absence for several weeks is now explained'. I've been in France and whilst there took the opportunity to re-visit the Musee de la Marine in Paris. The museum is housed in a wing of the Trocadero about five minutes walk from the Eiffel Tower. If you get a chance to visit you wont be disappointed, because

1) unlike just about every other site in Paris there is no queue to get into this one!
2) it's cheap (8.5euro) to get in
3) it has a magnificient collection of age of sail ship models from centimeres to 6 metres in size
4) it has several othe collections including ship figureheads, modern naval models, submarine model displays and some excellent art work on naval themes.
5) the shop has some fantastic books on AOS even if they are in French!

Sounds like you had a great time. I look forward to seeing more posts on your trip. We have been having a lot of server problems lately but it seems to have improved lately. Thanks Bobby, Ive redone the pictures and they seem to be showing now. I had noticed some of the display problems on the site when I was checking it from overseas, it appears to be quite troublesome and must be frustrating for Chris and his helpers.

Yes David I did think about that, but photos weren't up to standard but I have a cunning plan....I bought one of the guide books (in French naturally but will have to make do) and hope to scan some of those pictures in for the quiz. There are a couple of more obscure actions, at least to me anyway, that may prove slightly more challenging and none of them seem to appear on the Museum website :sly:
