The exact number, hmm?

Lets see:

Kickstarter special ships all of them 2 times = 8
The 4 starter set ships, 2 times = 8
All the others 20, plus 6 doubles = 26

So all ships count together i own 42 of them atm.

My old problem, when i start collecting something i do it extensive.
But its not bad as i don't own more ships atm as i am years old!

I went in at the Commodore level for the KS, and have been purchasing more Wave 1 and Wave 2 since then. The main reason, though, for the growing collection is that I am running games at cons, and am currently establishing a WoG/SoG community in central Illinois. A week or so ago, we had our inaugural game at our FLGS, and I plan on running at least two events there each month. Did I mention I also like minis?

I have 15 and am making a carry case to carry 20 and all the counters in separate containers.

However, I cannot go overboard as I also have to look after my 1/100 Scale 2nd SS Panzer Korps, (1st, 2nd and 3rd SS PzGdr Divisions), and elements of the Soviet 5th Guards Tank Army and 52 Guards Rifle Division, all at 1 stand/vehicle per company, (plus HQ's), for Panzer Korps Rules, my 1/16 scale tanks. I am a former tank troop sergeant after all!

Plus 3 x 1/72 U-boats and the rest of my modern sub collection in 1/350.

Yes, I know I have a problem! Hehehehe!

Just in case I didn't mention this elsewhere, 4 out of 6 of my First Rates came in with Pre-Modeled Mast Damage--all three Oceans and SGN108B. Reported Saturday afternoon, Becki at Cool Stuff Inc. contacted me Sunday AM to tell me they'd get me a return shipping label and that while my request for replacement from 2nd Run would mean a wait before sending, they were happy to honor the request.

So that moves four First Rates from the "own" column to the same "paid for and owed" as Victory and Constitution. Score is 46/58.

I hope you don't loose too many ships. Then one day, you could end up as Sweden, without any military, when it's time to play.

What will you do when there's a solo scenario where you should use 30 ships?

I will always maintain a sufficient fleet and wing. I have a lot of extras, especially with WoG. They sit on the shelf collecting dust.

SGN109 French 1765 Artesien 64 - 4 French, 1 British, 1 British stretch as similar ex-French Caton 64
SGN110 British Portland 50 - 4 British, 2 French
SGN111 Spanish San Juan Nepomuceno/related 74 - 3 Spanish, 1 Spanish stretch as Bahama, 1 British, 1 British stretch as HMS Bahama
SGN112 Spanish Meregildos 112 - 6 Spanish
These numbers reflect the double-sided cards. Not gonna name names, but SKU's are assigned.

At this point, 101C, 102C, two 111 and three 112 SKU's give an Armada strength of 14.

Well FWIW I only purchased the starter set in January. and planned to purchase enough additional ships to have 3 Frigates (1 x 40, 2 x 32), 3 x 3rd Rates (74), and 1 x 1st or 2nd Rate (100-112) each for French and British (so that would have been 14 vessels total, maybe 16 with a sloop each added)... HOWEVER:

I now have 21 vessels, with 5 more on order or in transit (incl. Vic & Con) and hopefully will have a set of the 4 KS ships soon (thanks Eric) which brings me to 30 to date - leaving me only 4 packs short of having 1 example of every model currently available! I know, but it's a catch 22 thing. An admiral without ships, but if I have the ships...

As for numbers; Well... I started out with just two from the Kickstarter, the two British, then I added a few 74s as I really love the 74s. Now I have about ten 74s each for British and French and a handful of frigates for each. Both sides have three first rates, too, now apparently a few more on the way. Then there's Victory...

I still need a few more ships... Only one unrated simply will not do. Thinking of building a civilian vessel makes me looking at getting a few more frigates. I'm thinking if I cut off a few guns and cover up the gun ports, perhaps raise the ship to make it look bigger...

I have pretty close to 100. I have 2 of each model + 2 of each of the KS exclusives. I figured about 76 + 20 additional extras. When I receive my Constitution and Victory order, that should put me at over 100.

12 First rates (6 French, 6 British)
32 Commodore KS
12 4 French Hebes, 2 British Hebes, 2 each French, British, American Sloops
8 Wave 2 reprint (Spanish and British)

That's 64 well maybe I don't have as many as I thought, but I have purchased extra 3rd rates for all countries, and extras of all classes of each ship.

Mycenius
03-16-2015, 15:02
If you did new slim bases rather than using the existing transparent plastic plate you could use magnetic material and store the vessels upright in a deep container (with metal or self-adhesive steel liner) or a large cake tin or similar... But it would mean conventional opaque basing that needs texturing & painting...

Current total: 63. Includes both ships in hand and ships on the way. I've listed both names for models where I have duplicates; HMS Bellona is the only ship I have three of. Doesn't count my wish list of Wave 3 ships.

Royal Navy: (30)
Sloops: Swan, Fairy, Detroit (3)
Frigates: Terpsichore, Meleager, Sybille, Amelia, Juno, Castor, Cleopatra, Iphigenia, Concorde, Unite, Orpheus (11)
Two-Deckers: Bellona, Goliath, third Slade common 74, Zealous, Defence, Vanguard, Impetueux, Spartiate, Defiance, Billy Ruffian (10)
Three-Deckers: Victory, Royal Sovereign, Brittania, Royal George, Hibernia, Queen Charlotte (6)

France: (25)
Sloop: Alligator (1)
Frigates: Courageuse, Unité, Hermione, L'Inconstante, Carmagnole, Proserpine, Embuscade, Le Succes, La Concorde, Junon (10)
Two-Deckers: Généreux, Aquilon, Fougeux, Redoutable, Berwick, Swiftsure, Commerce de Bordeaux, Duguay-Trouin (8)
Three-Deckers: Montaigne, Commerce de Marseille, Orient, Austerlitz, Impérial, République Française (6)

Spain: (4)
Frigates: Sirena, Ifigenia
Two-Deckers: Argonauta, Heroe

United States: (4)
Privateer: Thorn
Brig: Lawrence, Niagara
Frigate: Constitution

More frigates than I can use in an engagement (but still missing 44 razées/super-frigates and perhaps a post ship), and not nearly enough two-deckers. I'm excited that we're getting a 50 and a 64; an 80 and a 90 would be wonderful at some point.

A very impressive picture Jonas. That's the largest collection of out of the box SGN ships belonging to one person that I've seen:beer:

Higher numbers are mentioned in the thread by several members, but there's a lack of pictures.

I'd like to take better pictures as I love the sight of many ships, but I want them painted before that.

Well that certainly impresses me Jonas, who despite being a member here since November 2011 only started collecting ships six months ago.
Bligh.

Wooo! - Thats a pair of fleets!

I wonder how many people actually bother painting their SGN ships, or attempt to rig them? :minis:

I have over a hundred but, most have never been out of the box. So many to paint & rig:beer::beer::beer:.(some day)

Hi All,
I know they are not SOG ships, but all are painted and rigged. 13 French, 12 British, 13 Russians, 13 Swedes and 6 Merchants= 57 ships

13678

Also 7 Swede and Russian in-shore ships (Not shown) total 64. Would this count?
as you can see all have been played with.

It almost counts as double as you have to assemble and paint from scratch.

That is impressive!

Thanks Jonas,
I have been following your re-builds with interest. You put in lots of work. Looking good. You have a big fleet/s in your pocket. I can say once you see them being played with on a table you will push your chest out and put your head up with pride. :salute:
