Hi from Wisconsin. Im new to SOG but have been playing WOW/WOG for years. I think this is the better of the two games because its a 2 dimensional ocean(unless you sink), and its easier to wrap your brain around it. The fighter games are fun but using the altitude rules has too much record keeping needed.

Welcome aboard, Cain. :salute:

In what part of Wisconsin do you reside? We have a group of WoG/SoG players from Wisconsin/Illinois that meet for game days.

When you have the chance, take a look at our solo rules and campaign. If you have any desire to join, let me know and we'll get you on the roster. http://sailsofglory.org/forumdisplay.php?38-2014-Solo-Campaigns

Welcome:beer: from Arizona, Cain.

I like SGN for the same reason. Fun. Just enough detail to be fairly realistic, but not so much that it gives me a headache.

Probably half the WoG games I play do not use altitude - especially solo games - and I have found them to be quite fun.

With SoG, one has to consider wind and reloading, and with advanced rules, crew actions.

What I like about both games is the ability to utilize different levels of rule complexity, all to good effect.
