_Navies of the Napoleonic Era_, by "Otto von Pivka" [Digby Smith]

Two words: BUY THIS.

Lots of data on uniforms of the major players; decent coverage of some major battles; and as near as I can tell, a *complete* list of *every* ship lost in the FR/Napoleonic Era....

Recommended.

Must be a pretty thick book to cover the French loses alone.:takecover:

Just ordered a used copy. Sounds like a great text to have on hand. Thanks!

The British losses sections are pretty extensive; tho' it's not until they start locking up with the USA that someone besides Mother Nature or Murphy starts scoring kills. >:)

Concur with the recommendation, an excellent book, lists the ships of most nations

It arrived last week. I've not had much time to really look it over, but first impression is this falls into the category of 'must have' for Napoleonic Age of Sail. Incredible amount of information for all navies.

Indeed an interesting book, it's the source I used for "Navies you are not likely to see in SOG" thread some time ago.
