Can anyone help me with information/plans so that I can build a few invasion barges.

I have designed a scenario that needs two :-)

All I can find on the web is a single picture...

Yes I'd seen that. Not exactly what I'm after.
I thought it looked a bit "Heath Robinsonish". But luckily the print tells us its an "Accurate Representation"

Didn't Games Workshop do something like this in their "Man o War" game?

Yes there's a bunch of us in Stockholm.

Not very experienced at Sails of Glory yet - still looking for the Immelmann turn

Here's the latest game we played:

Always fun meeting new players, so drop me a line if you get to visit.

Nice idea and fine report Keith! Thanks!
And you gave me interesting idea - to allow collision only if at least one ship is poorly uncontroled (broken mast/s) or out of controle (taken aback).

Which type of barge? There were several types built for the invasion:

Nice link thanx

Its the Pram / Prame that I would be interested in.

So now I have two good pictures.

The only information I can find is the description "a 117' landing barge rigged as a corvette. It carries 12 x 24pdrs".

So If I can't get a plan, I'd like the length confirmed and some idea of the beam if possible.

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any data online on the subject -- I was only able to find one reference to a drawing from the period, but: 1) there's no pic of it on the site, and; 2) the drawing has no scale. (And, of course, looking up "pram" online provides multiple shots of baby carriages.) I'd have to look in Chapelle again to see what a typical length-to-beam ratio was for the period; but since the prame was designed for stability with a shallow draft, it was probably on the wide end -- 8:1 or 9:1.

Those L/B ratios are rather too slender for vessels of this period. Something like 3.5:1 or 4:1 would be more representative of the types of vessels constructed for this purpose, possibly even lower. Remember the racehorses of the sea, the frigates, were in the region of 3.8 to 4.2 to 1. (Ledas 3.8, Humphrey's 44s 4.1)

Found some pictures just cant seem to post them to the site.

OK I've managed to load the photos to an album I've created. Six pictures taken from The Campaign of Trafalgar 1803-05 Chatham Pictorial Histories 1997. They show typical vessels of the proposed invasion fleet. Scale on the vessels is on the pitctures but very difficult to read.

I was guessing there -- didn't have time to delve into Chapelle.
