Is there anyone playing the game in Yorkshire? From my point of view ideally in the York area but by all means reply if you are situated elsewhere.

I've just got the game and joined here. I'm based in the Sheffield area and the only one at my club with the game, thought that might change. One of our newer members is also a member of a club in Barnsley who says there are a couple of chaps who've started playing there, too.

Sheffield is a bit of a trek for me on a regular basis but maybe there is a possibility of a meet up at some point if we get a core group together in Yorkshire, assuming of course that you would wish to do so. I have also found another player in the York area.

Sorry on re-reading this the first sentence sounds a little presumptous. I wasn't assuming that you were asking me to travel over, just making the comment that it's a bit of a journey from York to Sheffield.

Hi Keith
I live between Pontefract and Doncaster but my Club (ELMS) is in Garforth. Still a bit of a trek from York but we do have a member who lives in York so not beyond the bounds. I'm also quite new to SoG and am trying to drum up some interest at the club. We do also have a guy from Harrogate who joins us when he knows we are playing WoG who also has expressed an interest in SoG. I'm still learning the rules and have yet to get out of Basic but hope to move up soon.

I am lucky in Northumberland! I have only to go to the next town to get a game! (mind you, I don't mind playing solo as well!) :minis:

Reg what about Chris at Doncaster. I know he likes a game but I can't remember if he has a starter set. He has ships though.

I'm pretty certain that he has ships but he is 12 miles further away from York than I am and 30ish miles from my Club venue in Garforth.
He is on the Anchorage as Rafer J.Larwood I think.

Yes Reg you are correct Rafer J.Larwood.

It is difficult when distance is concerned to gather for games.

Hi Ian, welcome aboard.

Were you at Battleground on Saturday just gone?

Do any of your members play WoG (WW1 or WW2)?

If you're on the aerodrome site my contact name is skafloc.

Battleground is on our list of shows to support with participation games in WoG and SoG for 2016.

Drop me a pm anytime, unfortunately I'm too far away for gaming as I live 25 miles north of Newcastle.

Neil

We have a number of members who play WoG WW1.

Played a very good game at Trebbles this year.

My username on aerodrome is ijo58

We used to run Battleground when it was known as Smoggycon until we handed it over to Pendraken. Be very interested in taking part in WoG and SoG at Battleground

Welcome aboard from me too Ian! :drinks:

There is another show, Parade Ground, at the same place as Battleground, on 9th July 2016, http://www.teesshows.co.uk/muster_on_the_parade_ground_2016.htm

I wonder if they would be interested in running a game or two?

Won't hurt to drop them a line. The idea of the gaming concept looks good

I know we will be running a game at Vapnartak. Not sure if it's just Wings or Wings and Sails but do come along for a chat.

Already got in touch with Pendraken about putting on a game at Battleground in 2106.

Do you think the show will still be running then? I for one will not be around as I fear I will not live to be 163.

I'm presently the chair of the Middlesbrough Board gamers club who used to organise and run Smoggycon before we handed it over to Pendraken.

I play both Wings and Sails and be more than willing to help out with either game on the day.

I'm also planning on visiting Trebbles and Newark in 2016

I'm sure that you will be more than welcome at all those venues Ian, and I look forward to making your acquaintance.
The more the merrier says I.

Great news Ian. I'm calling Pendraken in the new year to confirm attendance and tables. If we get enough members I'll ask for 2 tables but definitely 1 and probably running WW 1.

Rob never say that I don't plan ahead, who can say what will happen by 2106!

So does 163 but only as a darts score and not a birthday! I know we're all living longer but that's a bit too optimistic.

163 is an impossible dart score, whilst 147 is a maximum break in snooker. So I'm told. So in theory 147 is achievable, in snooker.

Hmmm. Sounds like a problem for my stats class. That would be an excellent problem - calculating the probabilities of each three dart turn.

OOherr, Speed, trajectory, time of flight, length of throwing arm, height, distance and 83 areas to hit. (84-5 if you count the wall and floor too)

So an easier one Eric:

On offer at a pizza shop; 1 15" pizza for £10 or 2 10" pizza for £10.

1. Is the 15" a better deal?
2. Is 2 10" a better deal?
3. Both the same?

I know how you love your food.

The 15" pizza has a cost of 1 pound per 17.67 square inches.
The two 10" pizzas have a cost of 1 pound per 15.71 square inches.

So the 15" pizza is a better deal.

Now that is why you enjoy eating Eric.

Don't anybody ask how it works with stuffed crust pizzas! That's another ball game entirely.

Multiply by the height, and then state "pound per cubic inches".

Remember, my initials are EAT for good reason.

So you have seen me eat!

When I was much younger, I could eat a lot, I mean a lot. Growing up where I did, I ate food from all over the world. It was great. One difference was that back then I was highly active; now, I spend too much time each day sitting due to work and school. These days, it seems just looking at pizza results in an additional chin. On Sunday, I started doing step aerobics again. It felt good.
