There was a lot of discussion about how sometimes the ships don't stay in the bases solidly and ways to compensate for this. We found it's better that they come out easily. The red aiming points on the ship base cards where you start your range measuring from with the ruler are underneath the sails. Usually it's easy to just hold the ruler hovering over your ship and it's close enough. When it's a close call, you really need to use that red dot to put the ruler on and it's a lot easier to just quickly pick up the ship and put the ruler directly on the dot.

The ship's mats flex a lot and the opening to put your damage track in is too large. I'll probably get some thin lexan sheeting and glue the mats to them.

Anyone considered using a much thinner ruler (3-5mm diameter- perhaps a cylinder coloured in bands for range- similar to a "pick up sticks" piece) to measure range as this would overcome the difficulty of getting the ruler to the exact spot?

Problem is there is more information on the rulers then just distance.

Actualy, no problem at all. There are three distances (purple/red, orange, yellow). Opposite side track is measured in centimeters (0.4'', roughly). It's not problem to recreate it on the stick (if one wants to).

But I have another question about ruler: First "half" (purple/red, orange) is 12.2 cm; other "half" (yellow) is 12.7 cm. Is that difference supposed to be?
If not, what half's length should be?
