With the delay in the release of SoG my interest turned to WWII Land-Bolt Action. When SoG did finally arrive my gaming table was full.

Here are some projects I completed this weekend:

Siberians for the Soviets:

Panther Ausf. A for the Germans:

Complete write up and more eye candy/pics on my blog:

On a positive note for SoG a couple guys in the gaming club I frequent have picked up SoG locally, so my guess is they will want to give it a try soon. Additionally with the completion of these two BA projects all but one of my own painting projects are complete.

I hope to get back to the high seas soon as I have a ton of other naval projects for other periods as well. ;)

They look great!

I just finished prepping a US Army platoon for painting. It will take me less time to paint them than put them together - LOL!! Lots of little bits to put on, I like the plastic ancients better, head, sword arm and shield and done!!

Yes, the assembling is more than half the battle especially now that I have an airbrush to do all the base coats.

I've got the Pole mastered. It's having that bucket of water dropped on me while I'm sitting on a chair that I can't get the hang of.

If that doesn't take your mind off of ships, you have serious problems.

You are not even noticing it's tanks and troops...not even ships. So I guess you're healthy.
:rum:

Bolt Action is played a little up here too but most of us still use FoW (15mm) for our WWII gaming needs. Your work looks great though.
Black Powder is the more popular of the Warlord games locally, but everyone here currently plays it in 28mm and I just can't get into another game at that scale right now. I'm trying to get some interested in AWI or USCW in 15mm.

I know exactly how you feel. I have a ton of 15mm Napoleonic, 7YW, Medieval, Ancient, ACW, AWI, Feudal Japanese, FOW WWII not to mention WOG, SGN, GHQ, CinC and other stuff that doesn't come to mind. So getting into the 28mm was hard for me to, until Legends of the Old West came out. Could never pass up Cowboys & Guns.
When my time comes, my son will have one heck of a yard sale.

For reinforced platoon - which is basis for Bolt Action, 28mm is good scale. I also like BA's initiative & order system.

FoW itself is not the bad game (and it has proper scale and fine minis), but I couldn't agree with idea of making whole nation's army (basicaly) within one company.

I even once had idea of making napoleonic batallions put on 15mm bases, but filled with 6mm minis. That would give them more genuine, massive look. Unfortunately, I never made such armies.

Fow WWII Historical, I play Bolt Action (and Victory Decision - still deciding which I like better*) with 20mm Prepainted troops sold by Lost Battallion Games (Sergeants Miniatures Games). I like 20mm because 1/72 scale tanks, AT-Guns, and vehicles are easy to find. Many Prepainted. My close up eyesight isn't nearly good enough for me to paint to the level I used to (haven't won any painting comps in 5 years now, longest drought since I turned 12-years old).

For ahistorical WWII, I love Dust Warfare.

* As Пилот said, Bolt Action's initiative and order system is really quite good. Victory Decision wins out in movement (fast-paced - move unitleaders exact distance, place all grunts in unit anywhere within leaders command range) & reaction rules though. Making it a tough call.

I could be wrong but, I don't think a Serbian likes being called a Russian.

Fixed with huge apologies. Was at work, and didn't have time to pull name off a quote with cut & paste and my iPad can't type those characters without even more time required to switch it up. I'm so very sorry, Пилот.

Sometimes people mix us up, probably because we share similar Cyrrilic letter, same religion, similar flags, and we are both Slavs, although we are different nations.

It was a poor assumption on my part based solely on the Cyrrilic letters of your name. I should know better, having taken a Russian History class in college. Although in fairness, that was over 20 years ago.

I know enough Russian to be dangerous and a year or two back I was browsing in the library and read a page and a half of some book (periodically wondering if this book had been edited at all, or whether I was rustier than I thought) before I realized it was Bulgarian...

Slavic languages are pretty simmilar - in Prague, for example, my wife (doesn't speak English) managed to communicate with Czechs in Serbian.

I know your next upgrade for BA - roads! Gotta ditch that masking tape.

Thanks, I have some ideas for other DiY roads, but for now the tape is quick and easy. I have the Jr rivers, but I cannot justify the expense on roads.

Too bad the GF9 Battlefield in a Box roads are only 15mm. Wish they'd do a 28mm version. Love their rivers, and rather reasonable cost.

Side note: Putting the pointer over the flag below someone's rank indicates which nation the flag represents.

Actually, there is ".rs" (internet domain for Republika Srbija) in flag's left side lower angle.

But, guys, I don't mind such mix-ups a lot

Russia has same colours as we do, but in reverse order (white-red-blue). Same order as Russia have Slovenia and Slovakia. Those three colours are, basically, popular among the Slavs. Croats have red-white-blue tricolour, Sorbs blue-red white, and Czechs white over red with blue triangle at left hand side. And Poles have only white over red bicolour.

Talked to the guys at our weekly meeting last night. We may get to SoG in the next few weeks as the Napoleonic test play finished last night.

Meanwhile on the other end of the table we were playing Bolt Action again.

Germans vs. Americans with TOP Secret Scenario.
