For anyone in the area of The Mall Cribbs Causeway near Bristol.
We have a gaming club associated with the mall.
Every Wednesday from 1800 to 2030 in the coffee bar near the 3 Shop lower floor.
We generally play WW1 Wings of Glory, but now we have Sails released I am sure we can alternate periods.

The Next time I am available will be Wed 22 Jan and we will most likely do a SoG game.
Drop me a line if you are interested

I'm in Sweden that week, but should be OK for the following week. Suggest we give SGN a run out again then :)

Sounds good to me Dave, maybe jan we will do SGN then decide what we fancy doing fr the next session .
Do you fancy a campaign aka WGF?
Ill make up a suggested format but your experience is more in this so any pointers will be good or have you a system already in place

I have a few ideas for a campaign, yes. Rather limited with what we have to play with in terms of ships so far but if people don't mind progressing to custom ships, and having to make do with proxies pending more releases I think I can come up with some fun episodic campaign scenarios.

We used them this way to great success in a con game last fall. We had a line of merchants moving diagonally across the entire playing surface, entering one ruler behind each other. We used the number 5 maneuver cards for most of their movement - either do this with the lead ships (ours were two abreast) and use the ruler to move the following ships, or use the card with each ship, as create some changing gaps in the line based on ship size. The larger Pirates ships took a few more hits to sink than the smaller ones. Victory conditions were to have x-number exit the diagonal corner successfully. One side played the interceptors, with the other side the escorts. it was quite fun.

The SoG game at the Mall was great.

We had for the first game two ships of the line per side and the french managed to capture one of them during a prolonged boarding action. The second action was two frigates per side, and that was over very quickly as Capn Duff lived up to his name as he rammed his frigate into the rear of mine twice and wrecked his ship, very much like the Fele did on several occasion in the French Fleet.

Aye, still thought I was flying a biplane, my frigate took seven boxes of damage from ramming.

The counters were. 4,4,4 followed by 4,5,4 that was with three sets of damage counters in the bag, plenty of 0 but I couldn't draw them :(

But for my second game I enjoyed greatly, I will post a AAR as soon as I get over the boarding action

David,

Sorry to hear you aren't well, hope you get better soon. We missed you at the Mall.

Ed & I have been playing SoG full bore and concur with your view about one manoeuvre card system. Faster, fewer collisions, ships are able to get up close more easily. We use a D6 to resolve the chit pull for entanglement as it's quicker. We have slightly altered the Fire result as one fire on board just did too much irrepairable damage, compared to other rule systems I have like signal close action. Two or more and you are doomed anyway.

Next Wednesday is on for Chris and myself and Ed hope to see you there if you are well enough. You could always bring a puncheon of rum in case you expire during the game and we could then finish the game in progress before carting you off.:salute:
