View Full Version : Production game component question, probably for Keith

I have the demo kit, thank you very much. I liked the idea of using a small box for the players to store cards in after planning so they didn't end up scattering them about. The demo kit movement cards are 2"x3". Are the production cards the same size? I need to know because I found a small cheap box at Hobby Lobby that will work both as a game time card stand holder and as storage for both the cards and other components. The inside is just over 2"x3" and it has enough depth to store extra things like smoke markers and status tokens.

In yet another case of the world almost being cool, but missing the mark...
They had small real wood chests with hinges and a clasp for 99 cents. Unfortunately the inner dimensions were 1-3/4"x3". Doh! So close to being a cool treasure chest to store the cards in.

Are the small boxes hinged, or are they two pieces? I was just looking at some for card storage for WoG, but should consider SoG too.

The chests might make for cool "trophies" or some such thing. I think we'll be off to Hobby Lobby tomorrow.

Two piece. Lid. The box proper inside dimensions are 2" wide x 3-5/32" long x 1-15/32" deep. You can flex it just a little to make that 2" fit the cards fine. I'm thinking long term I can put counters at the bottom, then 1-2 smoke markers and then put the cards on top. Write the letter for the maneuver deck on the lid and I'm good to go. Pre-packaged unit to hand out to the players.

Very cool. Interesting idea about packaging counters, smoke markers, and cards together. One unit per ship, if you will.

I found a plastic container at JoAnn Fabric that I use to store WoG card decks. We put one of the SoG ships into it, and it fits nicely, though it would require some packing material around the ship. I think each section could hold the cards underneath the ship. With the dividers put in their respective slots, there is room for 15 ships plus three large sections upfront for counters, etc. Could be useful until foam storage is available. I bought several of these on sale for $5 apiece, a sale they often have. I currently use each section for a different maneuver/damage deck, each section being able to hold multiple decks, with the front three holding plane cards.

I used to use 9007's for my War at Sea collection, before it outgrew those and I had to upgrade to four 6990AB "Double Deep" cases... Personally, for Wave 1 I had kinda hoped Ares would sell empty starter-boxes, depending on how much "wasted space" there is inside.

Andy, the production cards will be the exact same size as the blue bases you have with the notch in front and back.

If people would find small cloth bags with drawstrings useful for counters, they can be purchased in the U.K. from http://thecleverbaggers.co.uk/bags/drawstring-bags
