Many thanks for the report and photographs. This just makes me want the game here faster and that's probably still a ways off.

I setup an 11-ship convoy using Pirates of the Spanish Main ships, protected by the French SoLs and frigates. The French were to sail from one corner of the playing surface to the opposite diagonal. I allowed the French to setup anyway they wanted to within a given section of the one corner. Aaron asked if they could sail the convoy ships two abreast, one ruler apart, four on the mat in the beginning, and bringing the remaining ships onto the playing surface in subsequent turns, accordingly. The British were able to setup along certain edges, and the wind blew from one end to another, with no change for the duration of the game. Aaron lost his SoL, and re-spawned as a frigate, entering in alongside the last convoy ship. I moved the convoy uniformly, using a given card from Aaron's deck as he directed - all were number 5 cards, which encompass straights or slight shifts to the left or right. I chose different sizes of convoy ships, which made some easier to hit and some harder. Each convoy ship was able to take 5 points of damage. The players were free to change sails, one step at a time. Otherwise, we used the basic and standard rules, with the first few turns playing one card at a time. After a half-dozen turns, we incorporated the additional planned card.

Folks seemed to like the use of the Pirates ships, as they were easily identifiable. I would play around with a few things in subsequent games, such as raising the value of convoy ships to 7 or 8 points, etc. The scenario was loosely based off of the French bringing convoys of food from America, etc., as parts of France were experiencing difficulty due to British blockades and other conditions.

Here's the initial setup the players chose, though not to scale or exact spacing:

Looks like it was an interesting scenario and good use of the PoSM ships. Langton makes 1/1200 merchants as well.

Aaron - nice blog looks like it was a great show. BTW love the reference to leaving early and "scoring points with the household SIX"

Yeah, if Household Six is not happy then no one is happy.

Eric,

Would you be willing to run a demo game on Sunday November 10th at Command Con? If you would be willing, I could turn in your game registration and would be willing to pay your Sunday entrance and for an additional guest.

Hi Bob,

I would love to, but I am sending the kit to another member later today. He has a con that weekend in Texas. I am afraid we'll have to wait until the KS shipment arrives.

Thank you for the offer,
Eric
