Has anyone thought of, or have plans to make their own 1/1000 masts and sails using Shapeways.com ?

I take the lack of answers as a no.

Hi Ed. I'ld give it a few days. Site traffic seems slow.

I think Shapeways could be a good outlet. The only concern I foresee is whether the masts would have sufficient strength to withstand modeling. I say this because of some remarks I have read recently on the Aerodrome concerning the integrity of items such as struts and wings. This could be of concern, especially, if folks will pick up ships by the masts. Hopefully, those with Shapeway experience will chime in.

I was thinking about scrapping some old 1/1200 gear and immersing it in resin to create rigging loss markers. I need to see comparative sizes first to see if it will look right.

Hadn't thought of using Shapeways.

Thanks for your input Eric. What I am hoping for is easy change sails, going from at anchor to easy to battle to full to studded.

That sounds really good. We have some fine Shapeway designers here, so hopefully someone could pull this off. With all of the discussion of 3-D printers as well, I think we are positioned for some exciting game accessories in years to come.

You could always use Langton mast sets. They should work fine. He also does wreckage and other useful markers.

I have a load of Langton merchandise but, I would like the scale to be 1/1000.

No problem, use the next larger sail set for your 1/1000 model. They will work out fine.

He also does wreckage

I hope you're not referring to my upcoming build of the USS Constitution.
