It surprised me to learn that the man responsible for the "Hornblower" series, Larry Forrester, also wrote the screenplay for "Tora Tora Tora." For those of us who migrated from the Wings of Glory Aerodrome, he also wrote "Fly for your Life", the biography of Bob Stanford Tuck.

I had no idea, and I thought I knew all about Forrester. That one must have slipped under my Radar.

And wasn't Tora x3 everything that Pearl Harbour wasn't as a movie?

Sorry, folks, but Larry Forester and C.S. Forester, the author of the Hornblower stories - he was about 25 years younger, for a start.
Having said that - yes Berthier, Tora! Tora! Tora! was a whole lot better than "Hollywood Harbour".

I meant to say - they were not the same people - too much hurry, not enough proof reading - my common problem.

How embarrassing! I thought I had checked that. I knew that Larry Forrester was writing screen plays around the time of WWII, and made the intuitive but inaccurate leap of logic that Larry and CS were the same person.

How about this for a coincidence: The screenplay of "Tora, Tora, Tora" was written by a man with the SAME LAST NAME as the man who wrote the Hornblower books. They may even be distantly related! How's that for a strange connection!

(I will go away and hide now).

If only you had waited till April the first brad, you would have caught us all napping. Remember what Napoleon said. " The man who never made a mistake never made anything".
Kyte/ur! I mean Bligh.
