Hornblower Saga

To help me get into the right mode for Sails of Glory, I decided to get some reading material related to the theme. :g&t:

So I am thinking to read the Hornblower Saga, but am having a dificult time finding the right order for reading it. :dazed:

I am planing to read "Mr. Midshipman Hornblower" first, is it the first book or, at least, a good starting point ? :please:

I will be grateful for any pointers or insights on the matter :wink:

Yes, its an excellent starting point. I've recently re-read the entire series from the start and thoroughly enjoyed it.

if you look at this website it puts most of the major naval novel series in chronological order

The link is for the period 1800-09 but there are further links on that page covering pre 1760 to post 1819.

I too have picked up the book "Mr. Midshipman Hornblower" in preparation for the release; just have to finish another book first. Is there a book list somewhere else on this forum of suggested reads of a more fictional nature, anyone?

Glad to hear that. In July I should be posted to the heart of the Amazon Jungle for at least four months, the base there don't have even a telephone, just radios, so, no internet either.
